Beyonce: The making of a superstar

Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter was born on September 4th, 1981 in Houston, Texas to Tina and Mathew Knowles. The future singer, songwriter, dancer and actress and biggest selling female artist of the late 1990's and 2000's was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Beyonce got her name from Tina Knowles, her mother's maiden name. Beyonce has a younger sister, Solange Knowles, who is also a singer and would eventually make history with her #1 album, making Beyonce and Solange the first sisters to have #1 albums. Mathew Knowles managed Beyonce early in her career and Beyonce got her big break with the group Destiny's Child. Destiny's Child began when Beyonce and her childhood friend Kelly Rowland met LaTavia Roberson at the age of 8, while in an audition for an all-girl entertainment group that would start off with the name Girl's Tyme. Girl's Tyme performed on Star Search and came in second place at one point; Beyonce later said that the song that they performed was not very good. Beyonce and her interest in music and performing started to take shape at age seven after winning a school talent show, where the singer performed John Lennon's "Imagine" to beat 16 year-olds.

Beyonce: The solo artist, singer and actress

Destiny's Child were one of the biggest groups in the world and even won a Grammy award with "Say My Name," but they broke up in 2002 and Beyonce went on to start her solo career. Beyonce recorded her first song as a solo artist with her future husband, Jay Z. In October of 2002, Beyonce had her first feature on "03 Bonnie & Clyde" with Jay-Z which peaked at number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. This would be the first of many collaborations between the mother and father of twins, including Crazy In Love, Drunk In Love and Family Feud. Family Feud is off of 4:44 by Jay Z and is nominated for the most Grammys for 2017, with Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino AKA Donald Glover, of the award winning show, "Atlanta" fame, one behind him. At the end of January, the world will get to see if 4:44 actually wins the most, or like Lemonade, gets shut out by someone like Kendrick Lamar. Beyonce had many hits and massive success with Destiny's Child, but going becoming a solo artist, singer, performer and dancer turned her an absolute Icon and down the road, it is safe to say that she will be compared to not only Diana Ross, Tina Turner or Janet Jackson, but the biggest stars of all time, such as Michael Jackson and Prince will also be in the same sentence as Beyonce.

Beyonce has won countless awards, including multiple Grammy Awards and she continues to push the envelope, her latest album, "Lemonade," had Formation as the first single and the whole album was a massive concept album that had videos to go along with every song on the Album. Radiohead were the first band to start putting out Albums on their own, without anyone knowing that they were remotely close to a release date and Lemonade is a masterpiece and was nominated for Grammy's in every major category. She happened to be up against Adele and "Hello" was such a massive hit, that Beyonce truly got robbed; Adele even acknowledged that fact when accepting the award for Album Of The Year. The singer told Beyonce that she was her role model and that she wished that Beyonce was her Mum, referencing the twins that Beyonce and Jay Z had just had together. Beyonce has many #1 hit singles, but Single Ladies is arguably her most well-known and also has won her the most awards, including 6 Grammy Award Wins out of 10 Nominations, which is the most of all time in Grammy history.

Formation, Single Ladies and Crazy In Love were all performed in a montage at the Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show, held at the Superdome in New Orleans. Beyonce and her controversial performance stand as the second most tweeted about moment in history at 268,000 tweets per minute. Beyonce is also an accomplished actress; her first role was as Foxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers: Goldmember in the summer of 2002. Since then, she has starred in Dreamgirls, which won and was nominated for numerous awards including the Oscars. Beyonce also played Etta James in Cadillac Records in 2008 and garnered Beyonce several nominations for her portrayal of Etta James, including a Satellite Award and NAACP Image Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Beyonce: Net worth, Jay Z, her twins and other fast facts

Beyonce has a net worth of $350 million dollars and at only 36 years old, it is safe to say that she will end up about as close to Oprah as a female possibly can, as far as net worth and influence is concerned. Jay Z has also done very well for himself and together, the most powerful couple in the world is worth more than $1 billion dollars. The singer and rapper met in 2003 and started dating after meeting for 03 Bonnie & Clyde, they were able to keep it under wraps for a couple of years, but ‘Crazy In Love’ blew it wide open. Beyoncé and Jay-Z married without publicity on April 4 of 2008 and have kept their marriage and relationship private except for a couple of incidents. The power couple has sold a combined 300 million records together and counting. Beyonce and Jay Z became parents when Beyonce gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy on January 7th in 2012 in New York City. Beyonce gave birth to twins, Rumi and Sir Carter on June 13, 2017 and Beyonce kept it all under wraps until July 14th, a month later.

With Lemonade, Beyonce is at the top of her game and Jay Z is nominated for 6 Grammy Awards at the end of January of 2018. Beyonce sings on Family Feud with him and in 4:44, he addresses the same rumors of his infidelity that Beyonce spoke about in Lemonade. As a musician and producer, it would be a dream come true to work with either one of them and I am not alone in that dream. Beyonce is arguably the most popular artist of her generation, male or female, and if Lemonade is any indication, she still has a lot in the tank. All of her fans will be impatiently waiting to see what she does next.
