His relationship with Edgar Wright has evolved

Paul Machliss said in an interview that he has worked with “Baby Driver’s” director, Edgar Wright for many years. He remembered that he first worked on his TV show and exchanged contacts some few years back before he came for “Scott Pilgrim.” Their relationship grew when they were sharing reels and creating scenes. Machliss thought that Edgar began to like him after he noticed his different talents and started channeling the film editor into editing specific sequences that he felt were appropriate to their talents. When he got the script, he understood that music was embedded in it, so he started by listening to the script and then listened to the music. Machliss also noted that there were some anchor points in the script where certain things were supposed to happen at specific points of the songs. Machliss never forgot to mention that when he turned the script into reality and filmed it with the actions, it wasn’t the same experience as reading the script.
