Tatjana Hüfner narrowly missed the podium as third was the Canadian Alex Gough. In an interview with the champion

Dajana Eitberger was interviewed by author Sabrina Lang after her recent victory at the 2018 Olympics. Lang wrote in her interview that Dajana was never a sports fanatic, and was infact too scared to compete in luge in first class. After completing her third-grade class ride, Eitberger infact found the luge lessons tasks very disappointing - gymnastics, running and others. But she thoroughly enjoyed sledding. Lang added that since Dajana did not want to join, she canceled from the supplementary lessons. Luckily the teacher persisted and invited Dajana to the training camp. Because then her passion was awakened! That was in 2001. But Dajana tries anyway! She is very down-to-earth, authentic and open she talks about her career, her weaknesses and strengths and the little stories athletes experience behind the scenes at the Olympics. Leaning and having fun are your keys to success. 17 years later, the 27-year-old from Ilmenau wins the silver medal in luge at her first Olympic Games in Pyeonchang. Dajana explains that first moment of realization of victory by saying, "In principle, there was no thought at all, but a lump in his throat and an incredible amount of tears in his eyes. You cannot put that into words". The last two days of the event were like an emotional roller coaster ride but in the end everything went well! Dajana Eitberger, you have done not only yourself but even your country proud this year and may you have many many more victorious years ahead!
