Andrey Vitalyevich Larkov was born on November 25, 1989 in Zelenodolsk, Tatar ASSR, Soviet Union. He is a Russian athlete who competes in cross-country skiing. He competed in the World Cup 2015 season in cross-country skiing, representing Russia at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun. Gaining double medals this year definitely gave a boost to the Russian athlete and the Russian team who were disappointed after the recent doping scam. Larkov won a bronze medal in 50 km classical at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. He also won a silver medal in 4x10 km relay at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. His silver and bronze medal in the Olympics this year gave a boost to his career and established him on the map of international fame. Larkov created a triple gold medal hat trick by winning gold in three events in 2015 Universiade at the Strbske Pleso. He won a gold medal in sprint, a gold medal again in 30 km mass start and a gold medal in the 4 x 7.5 km mass start. He made his country proud at the World Championships at Lahti in 2017 by winning a silver medal at the 4 x 10 km relay. He studied physical education at the Povolzhye State Academy of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism, Naberezhnye Chelny, Russia and he can speak only Russian. He trained in the club Zelenodolsk Youth Sports School No.4 under coach Vladimir Makhalov and Gennady Rozhkov. He also trained in the Dynamo Sports Club in Russia. The Dynamo Sports Club, also Dinamo, is a sports and fitness society created in 1923 in the Soviet Union. Larkov made his World Cup Debut - 2011 in Rybinsk, Russian Federation. He began the sport at age 15 in Zelenodolsk, Russian Federation. He took up the sport because he got a love for skiing from his father, a fan of the sport. He originally enrolled in music school, where he played the clarinet, and on his days off, he went skiing. He eventually chose skiing over music. He believes in the philosophy, "Win Honestly." In 2013 he received the title of Master of Sport of International Class in the Russian Federation.
