Frank Theodore Levine, otherwise known as Ted Levine, was born on May 29th, 1957. He is an American actor best known for his roles as Buffalo Bill in 'The Silence of the Lambs' and as Captain Leland Stottlemeyer in the television series 'Monk'. Levine was born in Bellaire, Ohio to parents Charlotte Virginia and Milton Dmitri Levine. Both of his parents were doctors and also members of 'Physicians for Social Responsibility.' He calls himself as a "Hillbilly Jew" because he's part Jewish his fathers' side of the family. He was raised in Oak Park, Illinois and in 1975, he learned he had been admitted to Marlboro College. He became a regular in the Chicago theater scene and also joined the Remains Theater which was co-founded by Gary Cole and William Petersen. After his experience on stage, Levine began finding roles in film and on television.

In 2012, he played the role of a Sheriff again in 'Deep Dark Canyon,' and in 2013, he had a notable supporting role in the FX murder mystery series, 'The Bridge as Lieutenant Hank Wade.' He played the role of a commander of a police homicide unit in a Texas border city. In 2014, he portrayed the part of General Underwood in the British-Finnish action film 'Big Game,' and in February 2017, it was announced that Levine would be appearing in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as Ken Wheatley. 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' is set to be released in June this year.
