45 Amazing Modern Bohemian Style Bedroom Decor Ideas You Should Check Out

Modern Bohemian style bedrooms seem to be all the rage when it comes to decorating trends. There are hundreds of different ways to display your own unique style within this fun carefree theme. From garlands, to velvet repurposed seventies furniture, there will most definitely be something that you find amazing.  You can even stretch the ideas for the bedroom into other rooms of your house.

1 Garland for the fresh bohemian look

One of the quintessential staples for any bohemian bedroom is the string of garland made of yarn. Not only are these easy to find but they are easy to make and they come in dozens of colors and designs. It is great for covering up any blank spaces on your walls or to hang over your bed, and it is great on a budget!

2 Repurposed Guitar or Instrument cases

One way to set your room apart from all the others is by repurposing an instrument case as a shelf. Here we have a guitar case that was painted a lovely pale green with gold accents and on the inside, it was given hooks and shelves to act as a sort of jewelry box style cabinet.  This particular shelf looks like it has had its outer shell covered in a very delicate floral wallpaper. If you want something to blend in with your walls you can always use the same wallpaper that is on your walls if that is how they are decorated or if you are looking for something that stands out or clashes try a contrasting color.  On this particular model you can see on the inside of the lid there is a mirror which makes it a perfect jewelry storage unit.

3 Fun cloth napkins or bits of cloth

When most people think of bedroom decor they rarely think of napkins. But don't let that stop you. Cloth napkins with fun designs are great for laying under other pieces of decor like your grandparents did with doilies. You can even buy solid colored napkins and create your own patterns on them with fabric paint or glitter.  A great find if you're on a budget. You can even take a napkin that has a pattern you like or has had a screen painted on it and put it in a gilded frame. Don't let common uses for items stop your decorating imagination.

4 Interesting and colorful bohemian glass wear

Don't limit fun glassware to the kitchen cabinets. Break out your fun drinkware and set them out in your bedroom. If you don't have anything this colorful or exciting try hitting up a local thrift store. most people are trying to get rid of their seventies era glasses.  Perfect for the budget conscious.

5 Vintage Style Velvet Bedroom Furniture

Set the stage in your bedroom or living room or any other room with some unique furniture. A Bohemian staple is vintage and velvet. Anything from the seventies would be a good choice to fit in with this particular vibe.  Modern mixed with vintage is always fun.

6 Painted Bohemian Style Rocks

On a budget? A fun way to fill up plates or empty table space is by tossing a few rocks around. Though who wants just plain rocks? You can make any simple rock exciting and unique by painting them. It's great because you can customize each rock to colors or designs that match your bedroom.

7 Vintage Style Bike

You can’t think about a bohemian lifestyle without thinking of a bike. A regular modern bike won't do, it has to be vintage, and have that retro feel to match the decor. All you have to do is let it stand in your room or hang it on your wall and you have really cool accessory.

8 Animal Statues

Animal statues are a fun way to decorate. This gold elephant is classy and will easily match a lot of different styles. You could also go with animals that are colored realistically since a lot of bohemian rooms are all about clashing patterns and colors. These could be bookends or just table pieces. If you are on a budget you can go to your local toy store and buy some toy animals and then spray paint them gold, it works really well and they look just as nice.

9 Pallet for Holding Plants

If you have a lot of plants but not a lot of room this pallet is perfect for you. It can hold dozens of plants and uses vertical space.  You can even decorate the pallet itself with bright colors or hand-painted patterns. I love the simplicity and upcycling of a simple piece of constructed wood that is easily found being tossed away.  This is a fun piece of decor because you are able to customize what plants you put in it. You can even go with fake plants. It's also great for larger succulents.

10 Cultural Regalia

Different totems or religious artifacts make great decorations. It would be the most appropriate to pick something from your own culture and religion to reflect your own history and make your bedroom unique to your background and interests.

The hand of Fatma “ Hamsa“ or as we call it in Morocco, “khmissa “ is a symbol of patience and has been worn to ward off evil eye or bad energy. I’m a firm believer that each person has their own vibes which affects our relationships with each other. I believe that the best way to stay positive is to surround yourself with positiveness, and stay away from negative minds. I choose to wear the “ Hamsa “ not to ward off evil eye (if such a thing exists) but to remind me where I come from, and to stay positive. “The Hamsa “ is a cultural staple to me and to my work. . . . . #hamsa #evileye #wallhanging #ceramicwallhanging #wallhangings #bohohome #bohodecor #bohoinspo #bohoismyjam #bohemiandecor #bohemianliving #showmeyourboho #bohemianstyle #thenewbohemians #eclecticdecor #eclectichome #eclectic #bohemianinterior #interiorforyou #inspoforall #apartmenttherapy #sodomino #jungalowhome #jungalowstyle #jungalow #urbanjunglebloggers #wearethemakers #craftposure #houseplantclub #myeclecticmix

11 Woven Pillows

A simple way to add color and texture to your room, whether it's your bedroom or living room, is through pillows. These woven pillows are a great way to set the tone of your room and can come very cheap if you're on a budget.

12 Retro decorated mirrors

Stop by a gold old fashioned thrift store and check out some 70s decor, chances are there is some sort of gilded mirror. They are fun pieces that are one of a kind in shape and design.

13 Gem stones or crystals

In the same vein, as the hand-painted rocks, you can add excitement and color to any bowl or shelf space with gems stones or crystals. They come in various shapes and sizes and they are perfect for customizing your space. For an added bonus there are some crystals that claim to bring good energy or vibes, so find some with the aesthetic you’re looking for and breathe deeply.

14 Cross stitch decor

Not only is having cross stitch decor adorable but it’s also a great hobby. You can easily buy these pieces but to make a piece more conducive to you as a person and your room try making them yourself. I personally have tried cross stitching and it’s a really fun activity for a rainy day. You can write funny sayings paired with a classic flower or house patterns.  Really the possibilities are endless here.

15 Faux fur rugs and throws

Faux fur rugs are all the rage in any room and they make a perfect floor or table cover in a bohemian room. In fact these "pelts" can be hung up as tapestries too!

16 Gold dipped feathers

Want something fun and colorful to spice up your walls? Try making or buying a garland made of feathers dipped in gold. The gold makes the feathers go from art project to fancy accessory.

17 A teepee

What adult doesn't want to relive their childhood with this fun teepee? It’s great as a statement piece on its own but it can also act as a great place to put a dog bed or a reading nook.

18 Framed quotes

Inspiration is something you can’t leave out of a boho themed bedroom. When I think of anything Bohemian I think of freedom and nature. Try a poster with one of your favorite quotes or proverbs. Not only will it be a great decor piece, but it will also inspire you throughout the day.

19 Painted bowls

Painted bowls are great for a lot of things, such as a great functional decor piece. You can store jewelry or use them as plant pots. You can paint your own or stop by somewhere like Target. These are great for living rooms and kitchens too.

20 Aztec patterned runners

I personally love old looking worn out rugs with Aztec patterns. They bring pops of color but in a more muted form and they don't have the store bought vibe that regular area rugs have with lush fibers and bright dyes.

21 Plates with leaf prints

Most people don't think of plates as great bedroom decor but they can honestly be awesome for decorating. Whether you use them as a tray for jewelry or hang them on your wall, they can be very decorative. This one, in particular, has great leaf prints. To get this look, you can pick up real leaves and flowers and glaze them onto a plate or pick something up from a store, either way, it’s super fun.

22 Natural wreaths

A  lot of people have trepidation regarding fake flowers in the house. They can sometimes look cheap, and real live flowers die very quickly, but what about dried flowers? They can be dried to the shape you want and they will stay in the same pristine condition especially if you spray them with a glaze.  Real flowers can easily be used if you’re more into that look. This thin wire wreath is a new twist on the thicker full flowered wreath.

23 Dip dyed macrame tapestry

Tapestries are a great way to decorate large blank walls. Check out this macrame tapestry that's dip dyed with a vibrant color. It’s perfect for adding a lot of texture and color without it being overpowering. It's also super customizable, you can get any regular wall hanging and dye it any color you want.

24 Ornate lamp shade

Have you ever checked your grandma's attic? I bet you could find some great stuff like an old antique lamp with an even more elaborate shade. Though if you don't have that resource using a lamp you already have and finding a shade from a thrift store or garage sale is a cheap easy way to create this effect. Perfect for the bedroom and living room.

Hello insta - pals I’ve wanted to share this pic for ages but couldn’t work out how to photograph this shade without it turning into a big white blob but now I did it so here is my beautiful vintage French silk shade. Have a great evening and I will be here in the morning much love A&TB . . . #dailydecordetail #styleitdark #darkinteriorstyle #my home vibe #apartmenttherapy #interioraddict #finditstyleit o#bohodecor#bohemianstyle #myhometrend #mygorgeousgaff #deliciousdarkdecor #howihome #luxuryinteriorsonabudget #ekbbhome #interiorboom #myspaceanddecor #moochmarket #inpkateriorinspo #walltowallstyle #spotlightonmyhome #myeclecticmix #interiorsnapshot #myaastyle #styleithappy #myhousandhome #interior4inspo #stopandstaredecor #thewomensinstatute

25 Word burnings

I feel like everyone in their twenties or thirties had a wood burning kit at some point in their life. So bring back some nostalgia and kill some extra time you have with wood burning accessories. They can be very beautiful, you rarely see them and they are customizable.  You can even paint bits of the wood when you're done.

26 Statement Pieces

Sometimes fun accessories are a mystery. This is a collection of wire and stones and beads that were used to make a huge and unique statement piece. Don't feel like what you find has to be defined or placed under a certain decor category. A collection of items glued or welded together is a one of a kind artifact perfectly made for your room. For this particular item, the copper wire matches the center stone very nicely and then around it various tones of purple beads and stones were added.

It’s all in the details

27 Plants

Plants are always a great addition to any room no matter the aesthetic. They are refreshing and make a room feel more vibrant and refreshing. Though don't worry if you are not good at keeping plants alive, as you can always go for a desert plant or something this fake. There are many waxy fake plants that look real and you can even add real dirt to make them even more realistic. The great thing about adding plants to your room is that the pot or vase you put them in adds another layer of decoration.

28 Candles

Candles are always my first go-to for room decor. I love candles and whether or not you actually light them isn't even important. So if you’re in an apartment that doesn't allow candles, don't worry, you are perfectly fine. Just let them sit on a shelf or your mantle.

29 Vibrant floral furniture

Give old furniture new life with reupholstering them with seventies style floral patterns. This is a chic new way to bridge the past with the present without the mildew.

🌾🌿🍁🍂🌺 . . . #renove #projetorenove #reutileze #bohemian #hippiestyle #bohostyle #homedecoration #flowers #homedecor #mybohohouse #designdeinteriores #interiordesign #bohochic #mybohovibes #boho #design #art #bohodecor #decor #pocketofmyhome #homeinspo #interiordesign #architecture #homedesign #doityourself

30 Baskets

I remember my mom used to have tons of these wicker baskets, and I always see them at thrift stores. They are an item that for some reason everyone had in the past and now no one wants them, meaning you just found some decor that's only a few cents. These are perfect for the bohemian bedroom, really anything from the 1970s fits the mold. You can use them as bowls if you cover the inside with a cloth napkin or you can hang them on your wall.

31 Wicker

In the same vein as the wicker baskets, wicker furniture went the way of the magic eight ball. Finding this furniture may be difficult but when you do find it, it will be a perfect rare accent piece. Wicker chairs are a cheap alternative to an armchair and are great for bohemian reading nooks.

32 Macrame

Plain macrame tapestries are a great DIY project you can concoct on a rainy day, and you can even find a how-to Youtube video about making one. They are easy to make and the supplies are super simple, just yarn and a stick you can find in your backyard.

33 Skulls

Skulls and antlers are the perfect touch for a bohemian room with a touch of tex or desert flare. Don't worry, you don't have to use real skulls. You can easily find decorative fake skulls at craft stores and decor stores since they are in style right now. If you’re more of the DIYer you can always mold your own out of clay too.

34 Plant hangers

Plant hangers are a simple way to add more accessories and use up space you normally couldn't, your ceiling for instance. These are great if you don't have a lot of tabletop or shelf space but still want some plants around.

35 Tapestry

Large tapestries with medallion patterns are like the flags of the bohemian world. They are great for wall hangings or for bed covers. They are chic, and perfect for the bedroom if you are looking for something bright and colorful. These come in hundreds of different patterns and colors so there is bound to be one that's perfect for you.

36 Dreamcatchers

Dreamcatchers are fun and whimsical yet chic decoration pieces or a great extra security if you are having bad dreams. The best part about dreamcatchers is that there are gorgeous models in stores, but you can easily make your own with some string and tree branches that are still green in the middle. All you have to do is curve the branch which should still be alive and moldable into a circular or teardrop shape and tie it up then begin weaving the artistic middle part.

37 Macrame Garland

If you don't have a lot of space but need some more texture or decoration in your bedroom try the macrame garland. It’s perfect for customization, and it’s DIY- able and can be the perfect accessory even in a living room over the fireplace.

38 Painted furniture

Painting old furniture is probably the cheapest way to revamp and revitalize your room. This paint job is like a beautiful Caribbean sunset.

39 Wall of Quilt Squares

Now the wall of quilt squares is a pretty unique idea. You can bring new life to dull white walls without having to paint. This is perfect for anyone renting their home or living in an apartment where you can’t paint the walls.

40 A Bedroom Swing

Your childhood dream has come true with this swing in your bedroom. Mix fun with function with a casual basic colored swing to add an exotic twist to something basic.

41 Essential Oils

Not all room enhancements have to be visual. A great way to enhance your bohemian bedroom experience is by using essential oils to set the sensory tone. A vibrant lemon or tropical orange will keep your room smelling fresh even when it's dirty and will help you de-stress after a long day.

42 A Colorful Ottoman

Ottomans are often overlooked these days, but they are fun accessories and can often time provide extra storage and extra seating.

43 Wall Hooks

Wall hooks are great if you want some of your decor and room color to be contributed to by various fashion accessories or clothing pieces you are fond of.

44 Eclectic Candle Holders

Fun looking candle holders aren't just for holding candles. They are their own statement piece for a classy Bohemian bedroom. Think outside the box when decorating.

45 Bedroom Fairy Lights

Lastly, who wouldn't want to fall asleep to something as soothing and delicate as fairy lights? They are great even for kitchens and living rooms. Super chic and a great bedroom accessory, they can be used across your bed frame, over your door frame or around the perimeter of the ceiling.

As you can see there are dozens of ideas to make yourself a unique and chic bohemian bedroom. You can even tailor them for your living room or family room. Just remember, Bohemian chic is something effortlessly casual and classy and takes inspiration from the style of the 1970's but more modern.  All of these pieces can be found in craft stores, or in regular decor stores since this style is in right now, but if you're lucky, you can find this style lying around in various places like thrift stores and attics.
