Ryan Gosling is a Canadian actor best known for his work in "Crazy Stupid Love", "The Notebook" and most recently the musical phenomenon "La La Land". Over the course of his career, Gosling has appeared in a dozen television shows and over twenty five movies. Gosling may look like your average leading man, with chiseled features and a winning grin, but underneath his dreamy looks is a character actor. He's taken on a wide array of different roles, often changing his accent or appearance to portray certain characters. Gosling doesn't hold back in his performances, and completely invests himself in every role he takes. Whether it's by learning a dance routine, dyeing his hair platinum blonde or donning dozens of fake tattoos, Gosling is willing to do just about anything for his art. His dedication to his craft is why he's consistently getting rave reviews on his work and how he's managed to earn such an impressive net worth. Currently, Gosling's net worth is an estimated 60 million dollars, and he's worked for every penny of it.

Becoming a Child Star

Gosling received his first real taste of the acting world at the young age of 12 when he auditioned for the "The Mickey Mouse Club". A Disney Channel revival of an old classic, Gosling was part of a large ensemble of mouseketeers, and still considers it one of the best jobs of his career. Unfortunately Gosling didn't get much screentime, as he was pushed to the side for members who were supposedly more talented, like Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez. Thankfully Gosling wasn't too torn up about being a background member, and used the experience to learn about the industry and really hone his early acting skills. After two years on the variety show, Gosling moved back to Canada where he continued to star in children's shows. Gosling appeared in "Are You Afraid of the Dark?", "Goosebumps" and starred in 44 episodes of a Canadian teen comedy called "Breaker High". Gosling played the titular role in the "Young Hercules" series for a full fifty episodes. The show only lasted for one season, but Gosling was happy about the decision. He had aspirations to take on different roles and explore other avenues in his career, and hasn't returned to television because of it, choosing instead to completely focus on movies.

Success on the Big Screen

It didn't take long for Gosling to make the jump from child actor to adult success; his career started to take flight in the early 2000's, a mere two years after his television work. In 2001 Gosling landed a role in the controversial drama "The Believer" and blew audiences away with his incredibly dynamic and convincing performance. Gosling credits the movie for putting him on the path to success he has today. Once his career started to take off there was no stopping him. Gosling went on to star in everything from gripping indie dramas to epic romance movies like "The Notebook" and was able to charm viewers every time. Gosling's ability to play a charismatic romantic lead in one film then become a socially awkward loser in the next impressed even the harshest of critics.

In 2011, Gosling starred in a string of high-profile roles. After starring mostly in independent dramas, it was a welcomed change of pace for audiences everywhere to get to see Gosling on the big screen. Even Gosling himself said he had more energy and enjoyed working on such highly anticipated movies, something new for the young actor. Gosling also checked off a few other firsts during the year; he starred in his first comedy "Crazy Stupid Love" as well as his first action movie "Drive." Gosling received positive reviews for both films, where he was compared to amazing classic actors like Steve McQueen and dubbed the next George Clooney. Gosling's hidden comedic talents and surprising strength as an action lead make him one special kind of star.

Awards and Nominations

Throughout his career, Gosling has earned himself quite a few award nominations for his work. He absolutely deserves the recognition, since he puts the same amount of himself into low budget dramas as he does big blockbusters, regardless of what they add to his net worth. In 2017, Gosling received his first Golden Globe win for "La La Land" after losing the race four times prior. Once critics caught his performance in "Drive" they knew it was only a matter of time before Gosling began collecting prestigious awards, luckily he only had to wait a few short years before making it a reality. Gosling's other nominations include Academy Award nominations for "La La Land" and "Half Nelson" as well as Golden Globe nominations for "Crazy Stupid Love", "Blue Valentine", "The Ides of March" and "Lars and the Real Girl."

Like most actors who spend the majority of their time on a movie set, Gosling got into the habit of dating his co-stars. After a few failed relationships with on-screen partners, Gosling finally got it right when he began dating "The Place Beyond the Pines" co-star Eva Mendes. Gosling and Mendes started dating in the fall of 2011 and are still going strong. The couple had their first child together, Esmeralda, in 2014, then two short years later they had their second daughter, Amada. The pair looks happier than ever with their little family, and there's no word yet, but from the looks of it there's bound to be wedding bells in the near future.

The Future for Ryan

Ryan Gosling isn't going anywhere anytime soon and we don't want him to. He's part of a new generation of A-list celebrities taking over Hollywood, and he's earned his spot leading the pack. Gosling is currently filming the highly anticipated biographical drama "First Man" about astronaut Neil Armstrong. "First Man" is set to release in October of next year and there's already some buzz surrounding the project. With Gosling's tendency to put in stellar performances and earn himself multiple nominations, there are high expectations for the historical drama. For now, Gosling is focusing on his family with his partner Eva Mendes, and enjoying his well-deserved success.
