Who is Xin Zhang?

Xin Zhang is an athlete born in 1985. She is from China and competes in Freestyle skiing. She made her country proud at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games this year. Zhang has studied from the Shenyang Sport University, People's Republic of China. She can speak Mandarin language. She trained in the club Xinjiang under coach Ji Dong who is a national level coach. She made her World Cup Debut - 2004 in Harbin, People's Republic of China. Zhang missed the 2004 World Youth Championships after injuring her leg during training. She took up the sport in 1998 in Shenyang, People's Republic of China because she initially trained in acrobatics but was later selected to learn aerials by the Shenyang Institute of Physical Education in the People's Republic of China. Zhang lives by the philosophy, "Believe in yourself. Trust the people who truly help you." Zhang Xin won China's third silver at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang in the women's freestyle skiing aerial at Phoenix Snow Park. The 32-year-old earned 95.52 points in the final, while her teammate Kong Fanyu got the bronze medal with 70.14. "It was a little disappointing that we did not win the gold medal," Zhang said. "Through these years we have won five silver medal. We did all we need to do but we are just not lucky enough." Zhang became the second-oldest athlete from China to claim an individual medal at Winter Olympics, after speed skater Wang Manli won silver medal in the women's 500-metre in 2006. "Hopefully we can make our dreams come true in the 2022 Beijing Olympics," added Zhang, who placed 13th in Sochi 2014. "The Olympic Games are such a big competition. I had a lot of pressure but I was able to control it. I set a goal to enter the final. I made it. I was confident for this competition as the Chinese are so good at aerial skiing," said 24-year-old Kong, who is competing in her first Winter Olympics. China has claimed five silver medal and two bronze medals in the women's aerial since it became an official medal event at the 1994 Winter Olympic Games. Xin Zhang has a height of 165 m which is quite a decent height for an athlete.
