Who is Tiril Eckhoff?

Tiril Kampenhaug Eckhoff was born on May 21, 1990. She is a Norwegian biathlete who represents the Fossum IF. She is best known for her individual win in the 7.5 km sprint in the 2014-15 Biathlon World Cup in Ostersund in December 2014, and also the gold medal in the 7.5 km sprint at the 2016 Biathlon World Championships in Oslo. She is the sister of fellow biathlete Stian Eckhoff. She was placed 8th overall at the 2014-15 Biathlon World Cup. Eckhoff has competed for the Norwegian biathlon team since 2008. Eckhoff participated in Biathlon at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, where she won two bronze medals and one gold medal. She won a bronze medal in the mass start and women's relay, and she received a gold medal in the mixed relay along with Tora Berger, Ole Einar Bjorndalen and Emil Hegle Svendsen. Eckhoff studies engineering at the Norwegian Institute of Technology. In 2016, she achieved the title of a world champion in 7.5 km sprint on her home arena, Holmenkollen, in Norway. She also represented the Norwegian team who won the bronze medal in the mixed relay. Eckhoff loves Alpine touring, yoga, knitting, spending time with friends. Her partner is Anund Lid Byggland. She does not have any children with partner Anund Lid Byggland. Eckhoff can speak English and Norwegian languages. She trained in the club Fossum IF under coach Steinar Mundal and Stian Eckhoff who also happens to be her brother. Her brother Stian and her sister Kaja have both played for Norway in biathlon. Stian is also the coach of the Norwegian women's national biathlon team. She made her World Cup Debut in 2011 in Holmenkollen, Norway. Once, an illness caused her to miss the 2016/17 World Cup event in Oberhof, Germany. She said her most memorable achievement when she competed at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The Norwegian cross-country skier Marit Bjorgen is her hero. She worked with an eye specialist in 2017 to help correct her eyesight, with a focus on improving her shooting. "I've just been training my eyes because I have a bit of double sight. I've been trying to get them more focused. I've been working a lot with it, and it has helped me a lot." Her brother, Stian, is the Norwegian women's team head coach. "Sometimes it's really good to have your brother nearby, with all the travel and everything. Sometimes it's like hell. He's my brother, and we fight sometimes." Eckhoff won a silver medal in the mixed relay at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. She also won a bronze medal in the 12.5 km. mass start at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
