Rob Lowe - His Private Life And His Love Life

Rob Lowe, a handsome American actor is more famous for his roles on television than he is for his movie career. Rob and his brother Chad, also an actor were raised in a traditional, Christian home until their parents divorced and the boys moved to California with their mother. Lowe went to high school in Santa Monica, California where he met Charlie Sheen, his brother Emilio Estevez, and another famous actor by the name Sean Penn. The four men began their acting careers at nearly the exact same time and to this day they maintain a close friendship.

Sheryl Berkoff is the Love of Rob Lowe's life

In Hollywood, it's strange for a handsome man like Lowe, to remain loyal to one woman for over two decades. Rob Lowe has been happily married to makeup artist by the name of Sheryl Berkoff for 27 years. They met in 1983 on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend but let's just say it wasn't love at first sight. Five years later, in 1988, Lowe and Berkoff renewed their relationship on the set of Lowe's movie "Bad Influence" and this time they hit it off. They married two years later, and are the parents of two children, Matthew born in 1993 and John born in 1995.

Lowe's Scandal with Former Employees

Like any actor, Rob Lowe's career has certainly had its ups and its downs. Several former babysitters and several former employees have accused Lowe of sexual harassment. Those accusations were dismissed as unfounded and Lowe was presumed innocent. Lowe was also part of a lawsuit when he decided to sue former workers for several reasons; violation of a labor contract, failing to comply with the rules, and last but not least, robbery that occurred while Rob, Sheryl and the boys were on vacation. It was obvious that these women wanted to ruin Lowe's reputation, but the court system denied both appeals and the case was dismissed.

Rob Lowe - TV Show Career and Net Worth

Rob Lowe started his career in the early 1980's as a member of the "Brat Pack." Along with other "Brat Pack" actors Demi Moore, Charlie Sheen, and Emilio Estevez, Lowe began his climb as one of Hollywood's rising movie stars. In 1983, Lowe filmed "The Outsiders," which put a stamp on his career. In "The Outsiders," Lowe played a supporting role with the help of fellow actors C. Thomas Howell and the late Patrick Swayze. The movie was deemed a success and after that Lowe received many opportunities to pursue his career in acting. After the lead role in the comic series "Oxford Blues," Lowe was given the opportunity to act once again with several other members of the "Brat Pack" group in the movie "St. Elmo's Fire." Even though "St. Elmo's Fire" was the springboard to success for many of the actors in the film the critics hated it.

"St. Elmo's Fire" made good earnings at the box office, but Rob Lowe won the Razzie Award for The Worst Supporting Actor. Nevertheless, Lowe had already confirmed his acting reputation with the role of the high-school seducer in the movie "Oxford Blues." After a sex tape scandal, Lowe's movie career began to fade. Although he was still a very popular actor he just couldn't find a proper role. Either that or no one wanted to hire him to be on set. The 1990's were not a good time for Lowe's career though in 1999, he did get the chance to act in the TV show "The West Wing," a political drama dealing with the affairs in the White House. Rob Lowe won the nomination for the Emmy Award and two nominations for the Golden Globes for his role on "The West Wing." However, due to "lack of respect for his character," Lowe left "The West Wing" after the fourth season.

Lowe's New Rising in the 2000's

After leaving "The West Wing," Lowe tried his luck in television production but his first series "The Lyon's Den" did not fare well with a television audience. NBC cancelled "The Lyon's Den" after only one season. A similar situation occurred when Lowe was working on the TV show "Dr. Vegas," where he played leading character Dr. Billy Grant. Lowe was working on both "The Lyon's Den" and "Dr. Vegas" when he was offered the role of Dr. Shepard in "Grey's Anatomy" but he denied the role. After several episodic roles and independent films, 2010 Rob Lowe appears in a guest role in the "Parks & Rec" and "Californication" series. After "Parks & Rec," which he recorded until 2015, Lowe received one of the main roles in the TV show "The Grinder." By interpreting the role of an actor who tries to break through in the world of lawyer's using his charm and talent, Lowe has picked up the sympathies of the audience again. After the first season, "The Grinder" was canceled, despite good reviews and ratings. Rob Lowe's current net worth is estimated at $30 million.
