4. Start Using Magnesium To Naturally Rid Yourself Of Cramps
Why does magnesium work?
Magnesium is a crucial mineral many people's bodies are deficient in already. It is essential in regards to fighting period pain because of its incredibly strong anti-inflammatory properties. It also reduces the hormone that causes menstruation, prostaglandin, which reduces inflammation, cramps, and pain overall during your period. **Be sure to consult with your physician before planning on taking magnesium to make sure you have no other health issues that it may interfere or cause complications with.
How should I use it?
Magnesium can be used in capsule form or topical. Topical magnesium can be added to your essential oil massage for increased pain relief that is fast. If you choose to skip the massage, or if you want to add even more magnesium to your routine, start taking a capsule form. For optimal benefits, it is best to take 360mg per day up to 3 days before your expected period. If you do not take it up to three days before, that is fine too. It can be a quick relief remedy by taking it as needed; it just will not be as effective. It is best to find magnesium in the form of magnesium glycinate or magnesium chloride. Unlike magnesium oxide, these have optimum bioavailability for your body to use. Magnesium is a common name thrown around when speaking about magnesium but is far from the best for our bodies to use. 8. Continue to Get Your Body Moving
Rid yourself of period cramps through exercise
Yes, I said it, exercise! This is probably one of the last things you want to do when you are stuck in bed or on the couch in pain. Crunches... burpees... running...? While it may take quite a lot of motivation to get yourself started, you more than likely will quickly begin to feel relief and start feeling better. This is because of a few reasons. Exercise gets your blood pumping, which increases your circulation. Through increased circulation, your uterus is getting more blood flow which is better for uterine cramping. Another reason why exercise is so beneficial during your period is because your cycle can bring on physical stress as well as mental stress. Exercise is known to be a stress reliever, which will ultimately decrease your stress in your body and help your muscles relax more. This relaxation can ease uterine cramping as well. Plus, you might feel better knowing you were able to motivate yourself to workout, no matter how little it is, and feel better without having to use medicine.
What are some examples and what to avoid?
You don't need the most strenuous exercise routine out there to achieve quick period cramp relief. All it takes is movement.
