Tim McGraw

Tim McGraw is a famous country singer who also happens to be the son of the late baseball player Tug McGraw. His full name is Samuel Timothy McGraw and he was born in Delhi, Louisiana. He is the only child of Elizabeth Ann (Betty), a waitress and Frank Edwin 'Tug' McGraw Jr., a star pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets. McGraw is of Irish and Italian descent from his mother's side and of Scots-Irish, Scottish, French, English, Dutch, German and Czech descent on his father's side. McGraw was raised by his mother in Start for some time and then in Richland Parish which is on the east of Monroe for some time. His mom was living with her second husband at that time and McGraw grew up believing that his stepfather, Horse Smith, was his father. His last name was also Smith from the time of his mother's marriage until the time he met his biological father. When he was 11, he accidentally came across his birth certificate while looking for his Christmas presents in his mother's closet. When he questioned him mom about his discovery, she revealed the truth about his biological father. She took him to meet Tug McGraw then for the first time. But Tug kept on denying being Tim's father for 7 years. It was only when Tim McGraw turned 18, his father Tug realized that Tim McGraw resembled him and only then he acknowledged paternity. Since that time, both father and son remained close to each other till Tug McGraw died in 2004. Tim McGraw always loved to play competitive sports since he was a child. He even showed his interest in baseball not knowing that his father is a professional baseball player.

Tim McGraw on gun control

Tim McGraw and Faith spoke their minds on gun control in regards to the Las Vegas mass shooting in 2017 at the Route 91 Harvest Festival. “Look, I’m a bird hunter — I love to wing-shoot," said McGraw. “However, there is some common sense that’s necessary when it comes to gun control. They want to make it about the Second Amendment every time it’s brought up. It’s not about the Second Amendment.” Hill said they knew "a lot of people" at the Route 91 Harvest festival. "The doctors that (treated) the wounded, they saw wounds like you’d see in war," she said. "That’s not right. Military weapons should not be in the hands of civilians. Gun control is everyone’s responsibility, including the government and the National Rifle Association, to tell the truth. We all want a safe country.”
