Savannah Clark Guthrie, who was born on December 27, 1971, in Melbourne, Australia, was named after her great-grandmother. Her family was placed at Melbourne as her father was assigned work in Australia. At two years of age, her family moved back to Tuscon, Arizona. She completed her graduation from Amphitheater High School in Tuscon. In 1993, Guthrie completed her B.A. in Journalism from the University of Arizona. She took a break in her education and then completed her Juris Doctor degree at Georgetown University Law Center in the year 2002. Guthrie has admitted that she has not been a star student right from the start, but she became one and secured the second place in the Arizona Bar Exam.

Fact 2: Savannah Guthrie suffers from ranidaphobia

Guthrie, the 46-year-old journalist and a mother of two, has an unusual phobia of frogs. This came out in 2011 on her 'Today' Show segment with Guthrie jumping every time a frog came near her when a game show 'frog-jumping jubilee' was conducted. Guthrie was also found yelling at her co-host Matt Lauer to not bring the frog near her. In another 'Today' Show segment Guthrie was pleading Al Roker not to bring the frog close to her. The talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, took full advantage of Guthrie's frog phobia and tossed a rubber frog on her lap during the talk show. Guthrie freaked out on the show and her eyes were terrified with fear not knowing that it was a fake frog.

One of the leading news anchors Savannah Guthrie and educator Allison Oppenheim have penned down a book "Princesses Wear Pants". It is a children's book in which they have narrated a fairy tale with a twist. In their book "Princesses Wear Pants", they have taken power over fashion. The book "Princesses Wear Pants" was published in September 2017 and has got a lot of positive critics. Guthrie's second book along with her friend Allison Oppenheim is "Princesses Save the World".
