Although he was born in Missouri, Dick Van Dyke spent most of his childhood in Danville, Illinois, with his younger brother Jerry Van Dyke, who recently passed away on January 5, 2018. Jerry was also an actor and is best known for his role on the TV series Coach. The Van Dyke family has Dutch, English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry, and a family line that traces back to Mayflower passenger John Alden.
