I get it, back in nomadic times women struggled 9 /12 months to fend for themselves while producing a human in their belly. Reasonably, women were dependent on men to protect them from real life predators and relied on them to do the hunting/gathering... aka hard work. Women took up domesticated duties & made a few concessions..perhaps subservience and sex when a man pleased as a nice thank you. Fast forward a couple of centuries, yeah... #timesup on that kind of primitive perception of gender roles. However, there’s a impediment in the movement to change gender roles that is more inline with the 21st century. I think of it as information overload that is dismantling the issue. Such as the recent allegation against #AzizAnsari. I read the original account of the "unnamed" women, at first I was annoyed at the type of person that would go public with something like this, a person with no accountability for their actions who instead fabricates a story to slander another’s reputation, manipulate, get attention, or veil their malevolence .Then I was really upset because everything about this article is an invalid claim of assault or victimization. It smears the severity of what TRUE rape victims experience. The article is a layout of every demeaning stereotype about women you can imagine...reinforced and perpetuated #KatieWay and “Grace” 🤦‍♀️ This is where I circle back to Ashleigh Banfield. It was the MOST satisfying news segment I have seen in a while. #AshleighBanfield cut through bullshit diluting the path to reform & railed home what the movement is all about. I felt my frustrations understood & morale uplifted by Banfields ingenuity & thrilled to see her speak up against the recklessness of other media outlets, particularly #KatieWay, that have no business calling themselves journalists.
