Interview with Sharona Katan
Sharona Katan was recently interviewed while preparation for a show in Israel. The interview was in hebrew but here we have some interesting bits of the interview translated: When asked about Radiohead's Israeli connection, she said, "I'm trying to avoid credits. Me and Jonny are private people. Radiohead aren’t my life, I keep things separate. We don’t talk about Jonny’s work at home. When someone from the production comes in and asks what to do with all the BDS emails, she tells him to “ignore them. Just forget about it”. On being asked whether Radiohead wanted to play Israel because of nostalgia, as 'Creep' was a hit in Israel, Katan said, “I looked at it that way too, but it’s a pure coincidence. They just wanted to play in Israel, it’s not nostalgic. At the moment, honestly it’s a bit of a massive headache. First of all, the show’s in July, and I think about how hot and humid it is in Israel in July – Radiohead aren’t used to it! Maybe we’ll need to ask for a big fan behind them”. On being asked about her opinion on Radiohead shows, Sharona Katan said, “They always give great shows. It’s hard to find a show that isn’t great – and if that happens, it’s mostly because the crowd was bad. For Radiohead, their shows are sacred”. She added that her favorite song is 'The Bends' but said that they don't play it much.
