She won a bronze medal in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games and up until her third run, the judges expressed approval of her speed and technique but that she needed improvement with her creativity. Her parents are Thad and Julie and they are her biggest fans. Before she chose half ipe skiing as a career, she tried her hands in most of the sports and considered freestyle skiing before settling on the half pipe. She is also an accomplished swimmer, water polo player and a diver and she even received a collegiate scholarship to play water polo at UC Davis but later quit the team due to its time requirement. She skied everything, in the moguls, aerials, half pipe, slope style etc. She also calls former moguls Olympian Shannon Barhke as one of her biggest role models and also credits her coach, the late Clay Beck, with teaching her flairs of the sport. Her breakthrough came when she went to New Zealand in 2010 for the junior world championships. She won a gold medal in free ski half pipe and since then she's pursued a career in half pipe. The next two years saw Sigourney win X Games medals and back-to-back Crystal Globes. But then unfortunately she was struck with some major injuries. In two consecutive seasons, she was stuck with injuries that ended her run at the Olympics. She finally returned back in form for the 2013/14 Olympic qualifying season where she performed well in the final and took sixth place in the inaugural free ski half pipe Olympic competition in Sochi. Sigourney loves to travel, spending time on the beach and with her family. The athlete has studied at the University of California, Davis, United States of America. She comes from a family of teachers as both of her parents and her brother are teachers. She nearly finished with a degree in graphic design, later attending classes at Westminster College in Salt Lake City while she focuses on her skiing career. She can speak English language and is trained under coach Mike Jankowski who is on the national level. She played water polo for the University of California, Davis in the United States of America. They were also supportive of her as she became more passionate about the sport growing up. This would involve a five-hour drive from the family home in Carmel, CA, to the slopes in Lake Tahoe. She regards the Canadian freestyle skier Sarah Burke, who died in 2012 as her hero. Her biggest influence are her parents. She believes in the philosophy, "It's okay to scare yourself and falling is a part of the learning experience. If you really want to get to the top, there's no reason that you can't." She was the first female skier to land a 1080 in a competition half pipe run. She achieved the feat at the 2012 Winter X Games in Aspen, CO, United States of America.
