Her other famous appearances include on the show The Big Gay Sketch Show and also in the role of Dr. Jillian Holtzmann in 'Ghostbusters' reboot. The 'Ghostbusters' reboot was released in 2016. The talented actress could wow the audience with her celebrity impressions of Justin Beiber, Ellen DeGeneres, Hillary Clinton and many such others. Her unique character work has become her patent style and talent for which she has garnered acclaim. She has been nominated for five Primetime Emmy Awards including one for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and four for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series She won two awards out of these in 2016 and 2017. Born and raised in Long Island town of Sea Cliff, New York, Mckinnon's parents are Laura Campbell, an educator and Michael Thomas Berthold who is an architect. Her father passed away when she was 18 years old and she has a younger sister named Emily. Kate Mckinnon has a musical ear by birth. Growing up, she started playing the piano and a lot many musical instruments by the time she was 15. Mckinnon completed her education from the North Shore High School in 2002 and later from the Columbia University in 2006. She graduated with a major in theater and thereafter, Mckinnon co-founded the comedy group, 'Tea Party'. In 2007, McKinnon debuted on the 'The Big Gay Sketch Show', as a cast member for three seasons. Later since 2008, Mckinnon has been a regular in performing sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City. In 2009, McKinnon was acknowledged with a Logo NewNowNext Award for Best Rising Comic. She was also nominated for an ECNY Emerging Comic Award in 2010. In 2017, McKinnon starred in 'Lunch Witch' which is an adaptation of a young adult graphic novel by Deb Lucke. McKinnon initially joined as a featured character on the Saturday Night Live in 2012. She was later promoted to repertory status in 2013. She is now the longest serving female cast member. McKinnon started appearing as Hillary Clinton on the SNL right till the 2016 presidential election. The real Clinton also appeared alongside her in a sketch during the show's season 41 premiere. McKinnon revealed that her impression of Hillary Clinton actually rooted from deep admiration for the lady and that she always wanted her to win the 2016 presidential election. On the first show after Clinton's loss in the election, she appeared in a solo performance of 'Hallelujah' by Leopard Cohen who had just died two days before the show. After the election results and the subsequent win of Donald Trump, Mckinnon started impersonating Kellyane Conwayw while Alec Baldwin appeared as Trump on the show. Recently, in April this year, Mckinnon impersonated Laura Ingraham since brands began to pull out of her show. McKinnon also co-starred in the web series Notary Publixd, which she also co-created along with her sister Emily Lynne. In 2015, McKinnon was featured in a number of commercials for the Ford Focus. 'Rough Night' is a group of girlfriends who hire a male stripper for a bachelorette party in Miami. Things go terribly wrong for them as the movie proceeds. She will be next seen in the upcoming 'The Spy Who Dumped Me' stated to release in July this year.
