What are online pregnancy test or checkers

Online pregnancy test or checkers are websites that you can visit that will help you to make a determination as to whether or not you are pregnant.  You will be asked a series of questions and based upon your answers, the website or app will suggest that you either pregnant or not.  These online pregnancy test and checkers are useful when you think you may be pregnant, but you do not have a home pregnancy test to take.  The websites are easy to use and you can get results within five minutes or less depending upon how quickly you can answer the questions.

Inverter App: What does it do?

Color Camera Negative Effect

The longer you wait to take a home pregnancy test, the easier it becomes to read the results of a pregnancy test.  If you take a pregnancy test the day after you tried to conceive, most likely you will not see the double lines you are hoping for.  If you wait three weeks, you are more likely to see the positive result you want.  However, no one wants to wait three weeks!

A lot of women like to take a photo of their pregnancy test results, and manipulate the image using photo apps.  If there is no line visible to the naked eye, you may be able to see a line through the photo editing. The inverter apps take an image and inverts the colors. If you take a picture of your pregnancy test, open it up in edit mode on your phone.  Select the special effects options and find the one that has a "negative" function to invert the colors.

If you think there is a possibility that you are pregnant, you can take the 14 questions online "Am I Pregnant Quiz" devised by Check Pregnancy.  The questions are designed to detect early pregnancy symptoms and are all multiple choices.  Here are the types of questions contained in the quiz:

  • Which birth control method are you using?
  • Is your period late?
  • Are you tired?
  • Is your menstrual cycle regular?
  • How often did you have sex while ovulating?
  • Do you have morning sickness?
  • Are your breasts tender?
  • Do you have cramps in your lower abdomen?
  • Are you bleeding?
  • Do you have food cravings?
  • Are you urinating more?
  • Are you constipated?
  • When is your period due?
  • Did you take a home pregnancy test?

This is a good way to get an initial consultation from the privacy of your home.

2. Babymed

Babymed

Babymed offers a free online multiple choice 15 question pregnancy quiz.  After submitting your answer to each question, you are presented with an observation. After answering "no birth control" to the question asking what method you are using, the observation is "Not using any birth control means your chances of pregnancy are high."  Here are some of the other questions you will have to answer:

  • What is you age?
  • Do you know your ovulation cycle?
  • Is your menstrual cycle regular?
  • Did you have sex during your fertile days?
  • Are you experiencing morning sickness?
  • Are your breasts tender?
  • Do you have lower abdominal cramps?
  • Are you bleeding?
  • Are you fatigued?
  • Do you have food cravings?
  • Are you urinating frequently?
  • Are you constipated?
  • When is your period due?
  • Have you taken a pregnancy test?

This quiz takes longer to complete because of the observations you are presented with after each answer.  You cannot move on to the next question until you have read the observation and clicked "next" to receive the new question.  The observation is interesting, but it does slow down the test taking.  Once you have completed the whole quiz and given your results, you can view all of your questions, answers and observations in one document.

8. Pregnancy Due Date Calculator

Due Date Calculator

Babycenter offers a free online pregnancy due date calculator.  To get your potential due date, you will need to know the first day of your last period or you need to know the date you conceived.  The date you conceived your pregnancy will give you a more accurate due date.  If you have been trying to get pregnant and have been keeping an detailed calendar, you will most likely have recorded the days you were ovulating and the days you had sex.  Using these dates, the calculator will project your due date.

Keep in mind, however, that babies will arrive at their own pace.  Despite the best projections, the baby can always come two weeks before or after your expected due date.  It's good to have the calculator to give you a target date, but just remember that it isn't set in stone.

Summary

All of these apps and online checkers are great resources for you when you think there is a possibility that you are pregnant, but you don't have a home pregnancy test available when you want an answer immediately.  You may not want to go to the store to buy a test because you never know who you will run into at the drugstore or supermarket, and you do not want to be the butt of vicious gossip.  Sure, you can buy a test online and have it shipped to your home so no one will know that you are purchasing a pregnancy test, but that will take days to arrive and you want an answer now.  This is where these free pregnancy quizzes and apps are useful.

These quizzes are fun and useful, but there is no real medical science behind it.  The tests are based on algorithms, and not a single one guarantees any sort of accuracy.  If you think you may be pregnant, you need a pregnancy test.  If you don't think you are comfortable taking the test yourself and interpreting the results, you should see medical attention.  The doctor can give you a blood test to determine whether or not you are pregnant and you can be confident in those results.
