Julie Frances Cobb was born on May 29th, 1947. She is an American actress who was born in Los Angeles, California to parents, actor Lee J. Cobb and actress Helen Beverley. She was born with acting genes in her blood and right from childhood she had dreams of becoming an actress. Cobb's career has lasted more than forty years and it consists of numerous guest appearances on several television shows. Her first major role was on an episode of Star Trek called 'By Any Other Name.' This episode was initially broadcast on February 23, 1968 and Cobb was the only female Redshirt who was killed in the original series. She also played the role of a matriarch of the Pembroke family on the first season of the television sitcom, 'Charles in Charge'. 'Charles in Charge' is an American sitcom starring Scott Baio. It aired for 126 episodes over five seasons. Cobb also appeared on the short-lived television series 'The D.A.,' an American half-hour legal drama that aired on NBC for the 1971-72 season. Cobb's film career has included roles in films like, 'The Second Homecoming of Suzanne'(1974), 'Just You and Me, Kid' (1979), 'The Runnin' Kind'(1989), 'Lisa' (1990), 'Defending Your Life' (1991) and 'Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde' (1995). She also had roles in television shows such as, versions of 'Salem's Lot'(1979) and 'Brave New World' (1980). 'Salem's Lot' is a 1979 CBS mini-series American television adaptation of the horror novel of the same name by Stephen King. The movie, 'Brave New World' was directed by Burt Brinkeroff and was about a man who grew up in a primitive society educating himself by reading Shakespeare. He is allowed to join the futuristic society where his parents are from. However, he can not adapt to their repressive ways. Cobb won the L.A. Drama Critics Award for her portrayal in a stage production of Arthur Miller's play 'After the Fall'. In 1991, Julie Cobb appeared in the American romantic/comedy fantasy film called, 'Defending Your Life'. 'Defending Your Life' was about a man who dies and arrives in the afterlife only to find that he must stand trial and justify his lifelong fears in order to advance to the next phase of existence; or be sent back to earth to do it again. She has been married four times in her life. Her fourth husband was actor James Cromwell whom she married on May 29, 1986. The marriage ended in a divorce and she became his ex wife in 2005. Cromwell is famous for his movies including, 'Babe'(1995), 'Star Trek: First Contact'(1996), 'L.A. Confidential' (1997), 'The Green Mile'(1999), 'Space Cowboys'(2000), 'The Sum of All Fears' (2002), 'I, Robot'(2004), 'The Longest Yard' (2005) as well as others.
