Moriah Formica: Bio

Moriah Formica is a young singer, songwriter, and musician who is known for recently being a contestant on The Voice. Her age is just sixteen years old. Moriah Formica was born and raised in Latham, New York. The Voice contestant can attribute her musical talent and early interest in playing music and singing to her father, who played a lot of rock and roll music around the house during her early years. Her love for rock and roll is what triggered her to teach herself guitar at a young age. Moriah started to sing at the age of just nine years old. Her father says that she would also play the video game Guitar Hero for hours on end starting from kindergarten. Her first musical show was at a graduation party as a teen and her family was shocked to see just how talented and fearless she was on stage. When Moriah was 11 years old, she joined a musical program called the Modern Day Music Program. Her participation in this program is what allowed her to meet rock and roll star Michael Sweet, who was the lead singer of the ‘80s metal band named Stryper. Moriah would later open for Michael Sweet at some local shows and was even featured on his most recent album, which reached first place on the Billboard Hard Rock chart. Moriah Formica: The Voice

Moriah Formica was just recently eliminated as a contestant on the thirteenth season of the American singing show 'The Voice.' Her coach was Miley Cyrus. This elimination by coach Miley Cyrus did not go over well with her fans, who believed she should have won the show. Moriah was known for her strong vocals and rock and roll style on The Voice. During her first appearance on the show for her blind audition, she performed her version of the rock and roll anthem Crazy on You. This blind audition got the attention of all four coaches, who all turned their chairs for her. This was only the second time a singer received a four chair turn on The Voice. She also performed several other rock anthems during her stint on the show, including American Woman and World Without You. Moriah quickly won a large fan base with her raspy and soulful voice and her talent at playing guitar. During the knockout rounds, she performed Behind These Hazel Eyes by Kelly Clarkson. Her performance of Behind These Hazel Eyes proved to be a winning performance and she won the knockout round against the other contestant, Whitney Fenimore. Many thought Moriah would make it to the top and win the show, but she was eliminated from Team Miley Cyrus when Miley had to choose only three singers to make it to the final rounds. Her fans believed she was robbed of a place on the show and took to the internet to complain. Now that she is back home, Moriah plans to continue making music, performing local shows, and moving forward with her career as a singer and songwriter. She already has one album out called Bring it On! with original singles Broken Soul and Lovestrong on it. The album also features other musicians like Michael Sweet, Jon Donais from the band Anthrax, and Joel Stroetzel from the band Killswitch Engage.
