Kevin's father was Edmund Norwood Bacon, a respected architect and prominent Philadelphian who, for several years, served as the Executive Director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission. When Kevin Bacon was 16, he won a full scholarship to attend a five week long arts program at the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts at Bucknell University. During this program, he studied theater under Dr. Glory Van Scott and it is perhaps this experience that solidified his passion for acting and the arts. Kevin Bacon is married to actress Kyra Sedgwick. The couple had their wedding on September 4, 1988. Kevin and Kyra met on the set of the PBS version of Lanford Wilson's play Lemon Sky.
