Camila Cabello was born Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao on March 3rd, 1997 in Cojimar, Eastern Havana, Cuba. She was born to parents, Sinuhe Estrabao and Alejandro Cabello. Camila is Cuban-Mexican, with her father, Alejandro Cabello, hailing from Mexico City and her mother from Cuba. Cabello and her family moved back and forth between Havana and Mexico City for most of her early life, before relocating to Miami, Florida in the United States at the age of five. Cabello attended High School in Miami at Miami Palmetto but left in the 2012–13 school year, while Cabello was in 9th grade, to pursue her singing career, although Cabello has received her high school diploma since.

Cabello rose to fame as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, who came in third place on the second season of The X Factor in 2012. Thereafter, the girl group was signed to a joint record deal with Syco Music and Epic Records and released one EP and two studio albums. Cabello auditioned for The X Factor in Greensboro, North Carolina. Cabello auditioned with Aretha Franklin's "Respect", however, her audition was not aired because the TV show did not get the rights for the song. After 7 weeks on top of Billboard's Mainstream Top 40, on January 8th, 2018, Cabello with Havana became the longest reigning single in the number 1 position for a female artist in a lead role since Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" which set its own record five years prior, in 2013. This is a massive achievement and a great way to start the new year. Cabella released her debut album, titled Camilla on January 12, 2018 to unprecedented success. Only hours after the release, Cabello topped the iTunes Top 100 in over 90 countries and broke the record for most number ones on iTunes for a debut album.
