Ann Curry is a famous American photojournalist, a news journalist and a television personality. She has had quite a wonderful career! Ann Curry was born in Guam to parents, Bob Curry and Hiroe Nagase. Her father is a navy sailor who met his Japanese wife during the Second World War. They have five children and the Ann Curry is the eldest of them all. Curry lived in Japan for many years as a child. She attended the Ernest J. King School on the United States Fleet Activities Sasebo naval base in Sasebo, Nagasaki. She later did her graduation from Ashland high School in Oregon, United States. She graduated with a B.A. in journalism from the University of Oregon in 1978. Ann Curry has been a reporter for more than 30 years. She mainly focused on human suffering during natural disasters and war zones. Curry was able to report from the wars in Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Darfur, Congo, the Central African Republic, Kosovo, Lebanon, Israel, and Afghanistan, among others. Curry began her broadcasting career in the year 1978 as an intern at the NBC-affiliate KTVL in Oregon. She managed to become the station's first female news reporter. Later, in 1980, she moved to the NBC-affiliate KGW in Portland again to do broadcast reports and be an anchor. She later moved to Los Angeles to work as a reporter for KCBS-TV and also bagged two Emmy Awards for her work as a reporter from 1984 to 1990. Ann Curry joined the NBC News in 1990 first as the NBC News Chicago correspondent and then as the anchor of NBC News at Sunrise. She worked at the NBC News At Sunrise from 1991 to 1996. Curry became the substitute news anchor for Matt Lauer from 1994 to 1997 at Today Show. She later became the news anchor at Today from 1997 to 2011 and became the show's second-longest serving news anchor. She became the co-anchor of Dateline NBC with Stone Phillips and became the primary anchor when he left in 2007. She was the primary substitute on NBC Nightly News from 2005 to 2011. The main anchor for NBC Nightly News is Lesler Holt. Ann Curry once bungee-jumped off the Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough, England, to raise money for charity!
