Michael H. Weber is a renowned American screenwriter and producer from New York who has written original screenplays for the films, '500 Days of Summer' in 2009 and 'The Pink Panther 2' in 2009 along with his partner Scott Neustadter. Weber also wrote the screenplays with his partner for the movies, 'The Spectacular Now' in 2013 and 'The Fault in Our Stars' in 2014. 'The Spectacular Now' was based on the novel by Tim Tharn and 'The Fault in Our Stars' was based on the novel by John Green. Weber along with his partner also wrote 'Paper Towns' in 2015 based on another novel by Green. The duo also created the sitcom 'Friends with Benefits' which lasted only one season. Weber was raised in a Jewish family in Great Neck, New York. He completed his schooling from Great Neck North High School. Growing up, Weber particularly got interested in the teen films especially those made by John Hughes and Cameron Crowe. Michael H. Weber met Scott Neustadter in 1999 at TriBeCa Productions when Neustadter hired Weber as his development intern. They soon teamed up as writing partners and started writing comedy together in their spare time. The duo wrote a screenplay based on a failed relationship that Neustadter experienced. Weber and Neustadter came out publicly as screenwriters in 2006 when they successfully sold their spec script, '500 Days of Summer' to Fox Searchlight Pictures. While their movie was still in pre-production, Weber and Neustadter were asked by Sony Pictures to write 'The Pink Panther 2' which was supposed to be a sequel to 'the Pink Panther' of 2006. Although it gained popularity as the most successful comedy series of NBC, it was cancelled after one season. Weber and Neustadter later adapted Tim Tharp's novel, 'The Spectacular Now' into a film of the same name, a romantic drama about high school students and alcoholism. Weber and Neustadter were commissioned to write the screenplay in 2009 by Fox Searchlight, who had produced their first script, '500 Days of Summer', but the film got stuck in pre-production for several years before it was picked up to be made by by director James Ponsoldt. The film was finally released in August 2013 to almost universally positive critical reviews. They got a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay and the film itself won a National Board of Review award for Best Independent Film. Weber and Neustadter got to hear that the 20th Century Fox company had purchased the rights to adapt the novel, 'The Fault in Our Stars' which was about the romantic relationship between two teenagers with cancer, into a film, they asked the company to hire them to write the screenplay.
