Kobiela found 125 classically trained oil painters to create each frame of the film based on van Gogh’s most iconic images. Kobiela was 30 when she came up with this idea to do Loving Vincent. Kobiela more than van Gogh’s paintings were inspired by how Vincent lived his life. Kobiela confessed about her suffering from depression all her life and got inspired by strong Vincent picked himself up from similarly terrible life setbacks as the young man in twenties. Kobiela described his way of bringing beauty to the world. The letters of van Gogh has helped Kobiela at a low point in her life, and hence Kobiela got inspired to take his film.
