Career as a Movie and TV Show Actress
Francia Raisa's acting career began in 2005 when she appeared as a guest actress in an episode of the show "Over There" as the character Sawa. While this wasn't a large role by any means, it helped her to gain more roles. Raisa's next role was in the movie "Bring It On: All or Nothing". In "Bring It On: All or Nothing", she played the role of the character Leti. At this time, she was going by the name Francia Almendarez, so her name might not be as recognizable in the credits. Being in "Bring it On: All or Nothing" was a perfect role for Raisa, as she had actually been a cheerleader while in high school. Although "Bring It On: All or Nothing" is in the "Bring It On" movie series, Francia does not appear in any other the other movies. Raisa's next movie role was in the made-for-TV movie "Shredderman Rules." This movie was not very famous. However, Raisa's next movie, "The Cutting Edge: Chasing the Dream", was popular. In "The Cutting Edge: Chasing the Dream", Raisa played the character Alex Delgado, who was one of the main characters in this movie. While the "The Cutting Edge: Chasing the Dream" is one of many movies in "The Cutting Edge" series, Raisa is not in the first two films. However, she is in the sequel to "The Cutting Edge: Chasing the Dream," which is called "The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice." This film was released in 2010.
One of Raisa's most popular television roles to date was on the show "The Secret Life of the American Teenager". In this show, which began in 2008, she played the sexy, snarky, drama-filled character of Adrian Lee. Raisa was the character that every fan of the show loved to hate. When "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" first aired, Raisa was acting as a 10-grader, but by the end of the show, which came after five seasons, in 2013, she was playing a college student. Today, "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" is a teenage cult favorite, making it one of Francia's most popular roles. "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" aired on ABC Family, which is now Freeform. Raisa continues to work with this television company as of 2018.
While working on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," Raisa also worked on several other television shows, usually just for one episode: "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", "Massholes", and "The Mindy Project". Raisa also had a role in the movie "Underground," which premiered in 2010. After 2013, Raisa had much more time to focus on working on other movies and television shows. She appeared in a Christmas movie with ABC Family called "Christmas Bounty" in 2013. Some of the other movies she has recently appeared in are "Chastity Bites", "A Snow Globe Christmas", "Beyond Paradise", and "The Secrets of Emily Blair". Out of these, "Beyond Paradise" was her most popular movie. Raisa was even nominated for an award for her role as Shahrzad in "Beyond Paradise". Raisa also appeared in several television shows in the last few years: "Hit the Floor" and "Dear White People". Raisa's most recent television show is "Grown-ish", which began airing in 2018. This show is a spin-off of the show "Black-ish". "Grown-ish" is another Freeform (ABC Family) show, which proves that Francia has a great relationship with this company.

Kidney Transplant
Selena Gomez has been suffering from Lupus for about five years now. Lupus is any one of a group of autoimmune diseases that often attacks the skin and other major organs. In Selena Gomez's case, the Lupus went after her kidneys. The only way for her kidneys, and her life, to be saved was by having a kidney transplant. Once Raisa found out that Gomez desperately needed a new kidney, she got herself tested to see if her kidneys would be a match for Selena. She had to work on both blood tests and other physical tests to see if the kidney would work for Selena. Soon after the tests were completed, the two girls were prepped for the kidney transplant. Raisa had to go into surgery first since she was donating her kidney. Selena went into surgery next. Sadly, the kidney transplant proved to be more complicated than the average kidney surgery. Selena's new kidney rotated in her body, and she needed a follow-up surgery to correct the issue. After the kidney transplant, the girls were on bedrest together. Now, Selena is feeling much better. Many of her health problems due to the lupus are gone. There is a less than 5% chance that her lupus will return. All in all, her life was saved by the grace of her best friend, Francia Raisa.
