Federico Pellegrino was born in Italy, in 1990 to parents Enrico Pellegrino and Mariaclara Pellegrino. He took up skiing at a very young age because his parents loved the sport. They encouraged their son to be the best athlete he could be, even from a very young age and it's obvious he has made Italy quite proud! He is an Italian athlete who competes in cross-country skiing and he just so happens to be a World Champion in cross-country skiing. He won the Sprint Cup during the 2015/2016 season. Pellegrino made his World Cup debut in the 2009-10 season but he didn't achieve his best results in the sprint events until 2016-2016 when he won the Sprint Cup. During the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, Pellegrino won 10 individual World Cup victories, all of them sprints. He achieved his first international medal in cross-country skiing at the 2015 World Championships in Falun, Sweden. Together with Dietmar Nöckler, Pellegrino managed to win a bronze medal in the Team sprint, classic event. In 2017 he became World Champion after winning the sprint freestyle event during the 2017 World Championships in Lahti, Finland. He was a part of the Italian team which won the nation's second consecutive medal on the team sprint event, this time a silver medal together with teammate Nöckler. Pellegrino is the cousin of the mountain running champion Xavier Chevrier and he goes by the nicknames Pelle and Chicco. Pellegrino made his World Cup Debut - 2010 in Drammen, Norway. His ambition as an athlete is to claim the overall World Cup title, and to win a gold medal at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. He won a silver medal at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games which is not bad either. He has made himself and his country proud.
