Laurie Blouin is a Canadian freestyle snowboarder who was born in 1996 She is the top most FIS World Champion in slope style, winning the gold at the 2017 World Championships. Blouin won a silver medal in slope style at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Laurie Blouin astonished the snowboard world at the 2017 World Championships when she grabbed the slopestyle gold medal. It took just a fraction of a few seconds for her run for to be crowned world champion by half a point. In the snowboarding event, she posted the top score in qualifying before finishing sixth in the final. Blouin had been world junior champion in slope style four years before at the age of just sixteen. Blouin made her World Cup debut at her home resort in Stoneham, Quebec in February 2012. Her first World Cup podium arrived when she had finished second in slope style at the New Zealand Winter Games in August 2015. She achieved another World Cup silver medal at Seiser Alm, Italy in January 2017. Blouin ended her 2016-17 season with a slopestyle victory at a World Snowboard Tour event, the Grandvalira Total Fight, in Andorra. Blouin is proud of herself as she could push the level of difficulty in women's slopestyle event and has plenty of her own tricks. She got into the sport because she wanted to follow her older brother who was also into snowboarding. She enjoys dirt biking and trampolining in her spare time.

Blouin was a participant at the 2017 FIS World Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain. In the final of the slopestyle event she scored a half a point more than the silver medalist Zoi Sadowski-Synnott who scored 77.50. She also finished 1st in qualifications and 6th in the final at the Big Air event. Blouin gives the credit to the "vibe" and atmosphere of Sierra Nevada for her world championship saying "I was not that stressed because the weather is so incredible here [and] the vibe is so fun. Before I dropped [in] I was super focused and I told myself I was just going to drop [in] and just have fun." Blouin participated at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games hopeful that might win a medal but the weather and the conditions were just not right this time for the competition. It was chaos with rider after rider was tossed about repeatedly by strong gusts of wind. Some riders were set soaring high into the air, where they would flap their arms giving universal signal for 'I Am Totally Out of Control.' Sometimes the wind would push the riders down so they would crash into the ground with an aerial trick half completed. It was rare because this snowboard event in particular felt like a war zone of attrition. The committee was in two minds about cancelling the event too. It was snowboard crossed with bull riding, it was all about showing your strength to zoom past the heavy and angry winds! The crash incidents only kept piling up with riders floating through the air and landing on a pile of goggles, helmets and cries! Next to crash was Laurie Blouin who had hoped to win a good medal this year but these hopes had dashed when she crashed hard while training and landing with an injury. Her snowboard cut a rut and she had to be carried off the slope on a stretcher. According to teammate Mark McMorris on her injury, "She whacked her noggin pretty good and cut up her face." But the strong champion defied all odds and in spite of the hard fall, was determined enough to make it to the games. She had her name on the rider list for Sunday's qualifying runs. More problems were soon to follow after her injury. It was the high winds which delayed the qualifying and instead the final would be two runs for all the female athlete's the next day. In the final, high winds continued but the finals were not called off, controversially, as many riders would fall in the strong winds. Blouin who had a black eye from her crash, fell on her first run as well. Overcoming these plights, she ran a clean but easier attempt on the second run. On her third and final jump she only tried a cap single cab under flip instead of a double. This clean run was enough for her to win the silver medal behind American Jamie Anderson. Blouin refused to comment on her difficult situation and all she said, "Now I'm here in second place, I just don't believe it. It's a dream come true."
