In an interview with Dominik Landertinger
Dominik Landertinger was interviewed just before his recent stint at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in South Korea. Starting on a relatively milder note, the interviewer asked him about his experience at race that day to which he replied by saying "That the race was good although he did not feel 100% like running. He instead focused on shooting and did it really fast." He added that the weather was great for the race and was happy that Pyeongchang has shown its most beautiful side during the Olympic games. The interviewer was curious whether that after his spinal injury, Landertinger could achieve such a success to which Landertinger replied, "It was a very, very difficult time the last year and a half, I had surgery in September last year, I had a lot of training loss, I could not train for two and a half months, so I ran into the first World Cups in Oberhof and Ruhpolding This is still very difficult for me, it still hangs on to me, but things have gotten better and better step by step now, and I'm overjoyed to have been able to make a really good comeback on the podium right there today. " Next, Landertinger was asked whether his victory has synced in or does he still feel like a fairy tale. Landertinger smiled and replied that it did feel like a fairy tale. He added, "When I was running in early today, the whole Pyeongchang was kinda pinned to me, I have to say it was cold and the wind was gone and the shape did not fit. That it will work out today is only possible in sports. " Landertinger was asked to speak a little more about what his race like and how he felt about all of the pressure on him to which he replied: "I went through a good pace for the initial four laps and realized that I had a good move and therefore focused on shooting." He found it very horrible in the last lap and realized then that he would have to run his very best and finally managed to get ahead Boe. The interviewer asked him whether he felt a special love connection to Pyeongchang to which he replied that he had thought the same thing during the 2009 World Championships when the weather was really bad but he had managed to become the World Champion. He felt that the same thing happened again. He thought the circumstances would not suit him there but then again he won the bronze medal. He added that he likes the place a lot but at times, he did find the conditions a little difficult. Lastly, the interviewer asked him about his thoughts when he realized that he had won a medal. Landertinger replied, "Obviously, I was very emotional, it was a brutal relief that you get confirmation, that you're there and, of course, that you get rewarded for the hard work, it's just happiness watery eyes.
