Seo Yi-ra is a South Korean short track speed skater who was born in 1992. He recently competed in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. He had previously won a bronze medal at the 1500 speed skate event at 2017 Rotterdam World championships and an overall gold medal at the games as well. Seo Yi-ra skated past the first level to the semifinals in the 1500 speed skate event. He did not reach the finals. Yi-ra is nicknamed as Saida, Mirra and Seorijjang by his friends and family. South Korea's Seo Yi-ra won a bronze medal in men's 1000 meter short track speed skating at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang. Seo, the leading world overall champion in short track, finished with a bronze medal in the 1000m finals at the Gangeung Ice Arena, just behind Canadian Samuel Girard and US John-Henry Krueger. His teammate Lim Hyo-jun finished in fourth place after a collision with Seo and Shaolin Sandor Liu of Hungary, who was disqualified for an impeding penalty. "After I fell, I had nothing in my head. I just tried to do my best until the finish line. So I continued to race," said Seo, who was disqualified in the men's 1500m a week ago. "Nevertheless, I ran until the end." But Seo, the second-oldest male skater on the team, was not disappointed with the third-place finish and his bronze medal as it is his first medal at his first Olympics.
