Who is Ilia Burov?

Ilya Alekseyevich Burov, also known as Ilia Burov, was born in 1991. He is a Russian freestyle skier, specializing in aerials. Burov has a height of 1.73 m. Height does not really matter in the sport that he competes in. Burov participated at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Russia. He placed 10th in the first qualifying round in the aerials, failing to proceed further. He afterthat placed 10th in the second qualification round, again failing to advance. Burov competed at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games representing Olympic Athletes from Russia. He placed 8th in the first qualifying round in the aerials, failing to advance. He subsequently placed 1st in the second qualification round and advanced into finals at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang in South Korea. Next day he placed 6th at both Final Round 1 and Round 2, and finally placed 3rd in Final Round 3 winning bronze medal. Burov debuted into World Cup in January 2011. As of February 2018, his best World Cup finish is 2nd, at a World Cup stages held in Moscow in 2015 and 2018. His best World Cup overall finish in aerials is 4th, in 2014–15. Ilya's younger brother, Maxim Burov (born 1998), is also well-known Russian freestyle skier and Olympian. In 2017-18 Maxim Burov won World Cup in aerials. Ilia Burov is nicknamed as Burik by his friends. He loves taking walks, listening to music. The athlete has studied Physical Education from the Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University, Russian Federation. He has two children and can speak Russian language. He trained in the club Moscow Region Centre of Olympic Sports in Russia under coach Dmitry Kavunov on a national level and coach Alexander Pongilsky from Russia. His younger brother Maxim has represented the Russian Federation in freestyle skiing. He finished 11th in aerials at the 2017 World Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain. He made his World Cup Debut - 2011 in Mont Gabriel, Canada. In November 2016, Burov broke three ribs and suffered lung and knee injuries after he was involved in a car accident. He was ruled out of competition for the entire 2016/17 season. In January 2014 he broke his big toe in an accident at home. He injured the meniscus in his knee in January 2013 and required an operation. He began freestyle skiing in October 2007 in Yaroslavl, Russian Federation. He chose the sport because he loves the adrenaline rush he gets from the sport, and the opportunities it gives him to travel. His most memorable achievement was all his podium finishes at World Cup events. Burov's greatest influence is his father and believes in the philosophy,"I have adrenaline in my blood." He holds the title of Master of Sport of International Class in the Russian Federation.
