Kristoffersen made his World Cup first appearance in March 2012 in Slovenia and stepped on the podium for the first time in November 2013 after finishing on third place in the slalom race at Levi in Finland. Kristoffersen first became an Olympic medalist in 2014 after he won a bronze medal in slalom and was the youngest male back then to win a medal in Olympic’s alpine skiing history. The World Cup alpine ski racer was the first skier to win three classic slalom races in Wengen, Adelboden, and Kitzbuhel, all in just one season. With such a big accomplishment when he was just 21, he became the most successful athlete from Norway in the history of World Cup slalom competition. Another achievement that Kristoffersen has made is becoming the first racer to win six slalom races in one season since Albert Toba did that in the 1992 season. At the time, Kristoffersen was only 19 and he had stepped on the podium for the fourth time that season. He beat the Austrian, Marcel Hirscher and Germany’s Felix Neureuter who took the second and third places respectively. The year before, he had finished at 11th place and it was his first season in World Cup. Kristoffersen moved into the eighth place in men’s slalom and the overall standings. The skier had finished the night race in less than two minutes and didn’t forget to share his win on Instagram and Twitter.

But after he reached the finish line, someone threw him a snowball at close range and he was really mad at it and he expressed his disappointment. The Austrian sports minister watched it on the news and took the opportunity to apologize to the Norwegian skier the next day. The minister, Heinz Christian said that the incident was un unfair behavior that harmed the image of Austria. Kristoffersen said that the projectiles didn’t hit him when he was competing with Marcel Hilscher, but the distracted him.
