Who is Lee Sang-ho?
Lee Sang-ho was born on September 12, 1995 in Jeongseon, South Korea. He has an impressive height of nearly six feet tall. He is a South Korean snowboarder who competes internationally. Sang-ho recently participated at the 2018 Winter Olynpic Games and won a silver medal in parallel giant slalom. Sang-ho is nicknamed as 'Cabbage Boy' because his father turned a cabbage patch into a snowboard slope. He is a student studying at the Korea National Sport University, Seoul, Korea and he speaks only Korean, fluently. He trained in the club Korea National Sport University under Coach Lee Sang-Heon. He made his World Cup Debut - 2013 in Carezza, Italy and began the sport in his first year of primary school in Jeongseon County, Republic of Korea. When he went to a ski resort with his family, a snowboard coach noticed he had talent for the sport and so he took up the sport professionally. His height and body were in good form for the sport. Sang-ho was the first Korean snowboarder to claim the podium at a World Cup when he finished second in parallel giant slalom at the 2016/17 World Cup event in Erciyes-Kayseri, Turkey. Sang-ho was previously known as the seven-year-old boy who used to snowboard on a cabbage patch 15 years ago. He recently came into limelight at the 2017 Asian Winter Games and as a Korean star snowboarder Lee Sang-ho won the gold medal on the first day of the winter sports event. Sang-ho chose snowboarding as his official career in 2004, and showed remarkable development as he claimed second place in the 2013–14 Snowboard Junior World Championships. He also managed to beat all his competitors and won gold medal at the PGS of the Junior World Championships 2015. Lee continued to display outstanding performances when he was placed as the fourth best PGS snowboarder at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard World Cup in Italy in last December which is the the highest ever for a South Korean athlete. After a shocking ranking of 20th from the recent FIS Snowboard World Cup in Pyeongchang, Lee once again dreamt of becoming Korea’s first FIS Snowboard World Cup medalist at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang. “The images of cabbage patch and my parents passed by when I confirmed it was a gold medal," said the exhilarated Lee. "I am thrilled to rewrite the history of Korean snowboarding."
