She is an American singer-songwriter born on December 7, 1979, in the US city of Eureka, California. Sara Bareilles' mother, Bonnie Halvorsen, worked as a funeral home attendant while her dad, Paul Bareilles, was an insurance adjuster. She is one of the three daughters born to her parents. Sara Bareilles' parents being of the Roman Catholic faith raised her up as such and while in high school, Sara Bareilles joined the school choir where she was exposed to the rudiments of music. She equally joined several local theater production groups and Limited Edition. Her high school did a drama production titled Little Shop of Horrors and Sara Bareilles played the role of Audrey in it. Upon completing her high school education in 1988, Sara Bareilles moved to Los Angeles where she attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for a degree in Communication Studies. While in the University, Sara Bareilles also joined an A Capella group by the name Awaken A Capella which was an all-girls musical group. This group produced an album which includes some of Sara Bareilles' original songs such as Gravity, The Jackson, and I Want You Back. Sara Bareilles attends and performs her alma mater's annual students' concert tagged UCLA Spring Sing, and she has won awards as the best performer twice in such musical outing on campus. The prolific American singer-songwriter began by singing anywhere she could get the opportunity to do so around Los Angeles. Such places include Hotel Café and several other available larger venues. Two years after doing this, Sara Bareilles came out with her first studio album titled Careful Confessions and this in a way helped her get a recording contract with Epic Records on the 15th of April, 2005. There she was for the whole year writing, perfecting some of her songs, and composing new ones for her upcoming album. From Epic Records where she signed a contract, Sara Bareilles released her debut single in June 2007 titled Love Song. Love Song is a single from her debut label album titled "Little Voice." When Nicole Scherzinger left the NBC's TV Series titled The Sing-Off, Sara Bareilles was added in season 3 to serve as a celebrity judge. The Sing-Off also had Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman included.
