David Bryan Rashbaum was born on February 7th, 1962. He is popularly known as simply David Bryan, the American musician and songwriter and keyboard player for the American rock band Bon Jovi, with which he has also co-written several songs and performed backing vocals. He was behind the success of the Broadway musical 'Memphis'. In 2018, Bryan was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Bon Jovi. A film, 'Memphis: Direct from Broadway' was made in 2011. 'Memphis: Direct from Broadway' was a film of the original Broadway production of the musical 'Memphis' as captured live in performance on Broadway. David Bryan Rashbaum shortened as David Bryan was born on February 7, 1962 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and brought up in Edison, New Jersey. His father, Eddie Rashbaum used to play the trumpet and music was in his genes. Bryan was raised as a Jewish. He studied at an Elementary School where he learnt violin, viola, trumpet and clarinet. He also studied at the Herbert Hoover Middle School, then later at the J. P. Stevens High School, from which he graduated. Bryan began to play piano right from age seven, and began playing keyboards for a band called 'Transition'. He had studied with Emery Hack, a professor at Juilliard, for thirteen years. Bryan later enrolled into Rutgers University, but dropped out in between to attend Juilliard which was a school devoted to the performing arts in New York City. He also got many life lessons from Nimrod Merkovics which ultimately reflected in his style of music when he co-wrote songs for Bon Jovi. Bryan got married to his high school sweetheart, April McLean, on August 25th, 1990, but they later divorced in 2004. The couple has two daughters and a son, twins Gabrielle (Gabby) Luna Bryan and Colton Moon Bryan who were born on March 10th, 1994, and Tiger Lily Bryan, his daughter, born on April 28th, 2000. After his divorce in 2004, Bryan married Lexi Quaas on August 7, 2010 in Colts Neck, New Jersey. Bryan met with a freak accident during the late 1990's which almost killed his career as a musician. He had mistakenly severed his finger with a circular saw and had to undergo a year of rehabilitation and therapy to regain motion in his finger. He went back to playing the keyboard alter. David Bryan is very active in his charity works. He is involved with VH-1's Save the Music He is an honorary Board member for Only Make Believe which is a non-profit organization that brings interactive theater to very ill and disabled children in hospitals and care facilities. The band together has also built numerous homes for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The video for the hit song "Who Says You Can't Go Home" is actually a documentary of the making of these homes. David Bryan appeared on The Howard Stern Show. The Howard Stern Show is an American talk radio show hosted by Howard Stern. Stern himself inducted Bon Jovi to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018 and David Bryan as the band's member.

Career of the musician

David Bryan was one of the first members of Bon Jovi's band. Over the course of his career with Bon Jovi, Bryan has played keyboards and sung on all of Bon Jovi's albums, as well as in the solo projects of Jon Bon Jovi and also Richie Sambora. Bryan has also co-written the songs "Love Lies" and "Breakout" on Bon Jovi's self-titled first album, "Only Lonely". The broadway show, 'Memphis', which ran on Broadway from October 18, 2009 to August 5, 2012, got nominated for 8 Tony awards for the 2010 season and also won 4 including Best Musical and Best Original Score. Bon Jovi band has given us super hit songs like 'It's My Life', 'Livin' on a Prayer' and 'Always'. 'It's My Life' was a single from the album 'Crush' while 'Livin' on a Prayer' was from the movie, Rockstar. Their album, 'Live from London' had the hit song, 'Always'. Bryan also helped his friend, Richie Sambora, record a song for the horror movie, 'Netherworld'. Before recording the soundtrack for 'Netherworld' Bryan was bitten by a very dangerous South American parasite which had him critically ill and hospitalized for days. David Bryan has acted in a few movies, Memphis the Musical (2011), Light of Day (1987) and The Toxic Avenger: The Musical (2018). He can play multiple keyboards at once. He has his signature blond curly hair which makes it easier to recognize the musician from afar. David Bryan has won two Tony Awards in 2010 for his work on musical "Memphis". One was for Best Original Score for writing the music and lyrics and the second award was for Best Orchestration.
