Born in 1948, this South African record producer and songwriter has has a long and esteemed list of artists as his clientele including Britney Spears, Def Leppard, The Boomtown Rats, Foreigner, Michael Bolton, The Cars, Bryan Adams, Huey Lewis and the News, Billy Ocean, The Corrs, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, Nickelback, and Muse. Lange and Twain shared a marital bond for 14 years. He co-wrote the songs for Twain's 1997 album, 'Come On Over' which he also produced. Born in Mufulira, Northern Rhodesia, Lange was raised in Durban, South Africa. His parents were quite rich, his mother coming from a prosperous German family and his father being a mining engineer. Lange was nicknamed 'Mutt' by his friends and family. Growing up, he was a fan of country music and the singer Slim Whitman. As a teenage boy, he started his own band at the Belfast High School and played guitar and sang harmonies for the band. Lange returned to co-write songs for Def Leppard in 1999. This time, their song, 'Promises' became the number 1 hit on the rock charts. Lange has also co-written the famous song 'Everything I do I do it for you' with Bryan Adams and even produced their album, 'Waking up the neighbours'. A television movie 'Hysteria' was made in 2001. The movie chronicled the The Def Leppard Story, and actor Anthony Michael Hall portrayed the character of Lange. Lange is also the music director of the movie, 'Don Juan DeMarco' released in 1994. 'Don Juan DeMarco' is a 1995 American romantic comedy-drama film starring Johnny Depp as John Arnold DeMarco, a man who believes himself to be Don Juan, the greatest lover in the world. Lange is a vegan and is also a follower of egalitarian preachings of Sant Mat. Lange, currently lives a secluded life in La Tour-de-Peilz in Switzerland. Before marrying Shania Twain, he was married to Stevie Vann. But the marriage did not last long and in 1970's, they separated. He met Shania Twain after he heard her music and got in touch with her. Their chemistry clicked immediately and they spent a lot of hours over the phone and eventually marrying in December of 1993.
