Online Games and Apps to Play with your Friends Remotely
More things to do if you have to stay at home for much longer
May 31, 2020
Coronavirus has put a temporary stop to our lives, and we have been stranded inside our housing, staying away from friends and loved ones. We understand that to keep on top of things and fight this global pandemic, we have to practice social distancing and stay inside for most of our time, but you can only do that for so long. If you're anything like me, you’re missing your friends, and you're bored out of your mind. I'm not just talking about kids, times like these are hard on everyone regardless of their age. Unfortunately, the situation doesn't seem to be getting any better, and it looks like we'll have to keep on practicing social distancing for at least a few more months.
However, this doesn't mean that you can still play and have fun with your friends. In the age of high-speed internet, you can virtually hang out with your friends all day long, and during times like these, we need each other more than ever. Different PC and mobile games allow you to play with your friends without physically being with them. Mentioned below are a few PC and mobile games that are going to take your online gaming experience to the next level. Some are light-hearted and simple, and some might appeal to your adventurous side.
Free Games on the PC
1. Skribbl.io
This is one of the best games you’re going to find on the internet. The idea is to guess what other people are drawing and if you guess right, you get a point and the player with the most points wins at the end! It's very simple and easy to play and it's going to make your virtual game nights an event to look forward to.
The first thing you need to do is search skribbl.io in your search bar and click on the link that comes on top. When you're starting the game the first thing that you need to do is to choose a name. You don't have to take it too seriously; there is no need to share any information that you want to keep private. Just choose a name you like; it doesn't have to be your real name; you can choose a random name or make one up.
Choose what your character is going to look like. There are different options that you can choose from, just go with whatever you like the most. Then start playing! You’ll have to wait for your turn because only one person can draw at a time. You can guess other players' drawings till your turn to draw comes up.
2. CS: GO (counter strike global offensive)

One of my personal favorites, Counter-Strike: Global offensive, gives quite an accurate and realistic portrayal of the modern-day military engagements. If you choose to play this game, you're in for great gaming experience and never-ending fun. It's not only fun to play; it is mentally demanding. You need to think, strategize, and execute on the go. There is no time to take a break, which makes the experience hyper-realistic.
Due to what the game offers, it's been around for a long time. You would be surprised to know that for the past 12 years counter strike has been one of the most played computer games in the world and has sold more than 25 million copies all across the world. If you're a team player, you're going to be great at this game because it's all about teamwork. What makes it even more fun is the fact that no matter what age group you belong to, whether you're a teenager or an adult CS: GO will not disappoint you.
3. Call of Duty: Warzone

Developed by infinity ward, call of duty warzone took the gaming world by surprise. With the worldwide success of call of duty modern warfare 2019, call of duty: Warzone came out of nowhere. It is something that gets you hooked instantly. You can play this game with your friends by joining forces and jumping into battle with up to 150 players. It's a battle royal game, and you also have the option of playing individually. Call of duty war zone combines new and old fan-favorite locations, which adds a distinctive flair to this video game. You can collect money to get new and upgraded gear, which is one of the most fun features of the game. This game is not for everyone, but if you have a knack for combat games, you're certainly going to love playing this one with your friends.
Free Phone App Games
4. FishDom

One amazing game that I've come across in my time in lockdown is FishDom. The best thing about it is that it can be downloaded on any phone and can be connected with your Facebook account. While some might think it's just like candy crush, trust me, it is a whole lot better. It has numerous rewards unlike candy crush and also lets you design your aquarium. If that wasn't enough, you can name your fishes anything you want and take care of them while going through exciting levels to gain more points. While it does have limited lives, now and then it offers you 1 or 2 hours to play without any loss of lives. It has got me addicted, and I'm sure you'll be too.
5. PUBG

If you're sick and tired of being locked up in your room and want to experience what it feels like to have an adrenaline rush, then PUBG is the game that you've been looking for. The best thing about it is that unlike other games it is close to reality. It's one of the best battle royale games in which you can play on your own or with a team, like most games, the last man standing is going to win.
6. Kitchen scramble

If you're someone who wants to cook but isn't gifted like other people, then kitchen scramble is the best game that you can go for, not only does it play with your memory, it will give you the recognition you need as a cook in a virtual world. The game starts with a few easy recipes and gradually gets tougher and tougher as you clear levels. It is one of the most engaging games that I've come across. Well, what are you waiting for, get cooking!
Other Games
If you're one of the few people who are lucky enough to be looked up at home with friends or family - mentioned below are a few games that you can try out.
7. Uno

Uno is a great light-hearted game that lightens up your mood instantly. It keeps you busy and is highly enjoyable. If Uno is not a part of your game night, it's incomplete. It is sure to drive away from the boredom and lift your spirits. The best part about it is that it doesn't have complex rules, so if it's your first time hearing about it, you don't need to be worried. Plus, you can play it on most of your devices. Whether you're an Apple user or your phone runs an android OS, you can easily get this game for your phone. You can only play it on your computer without even downloading an application; you just log in and start playing. So, whether it’s virtual or real, Uno should be your go-to game choice.
8. Dungeon and dragons
Granted that the game has been around for quite a while and is normally associated with nerds and geeks if it's good enough for Joe Manganiello, it's surely good enough for us. However, you need to have at least a few people to get the game going. Get your parents to play along too, because once you get started, you'll surely spend hours. You can have your friends join in online and let the adventure begin. It might seem to be too unrealistic in the beginning, but once you let your creative side run wild, you'll have loads of fun.

Summary
Not everyone likes playing games that have to do with guns and violence, so I have made a conscious effort to choose games that cater to people with different tastes. Some of you will be excited about counter strike and call of duty; others will find Uno and kitchen scramble to be the games of their choosing. Computer and mobile screens can never be as good as the real thing, which is hanging out with your friends and loved ones and playing different games, but it's not a bad alternative.
