Caleb Followill‎ : Rocker Husband of Lily Aldridge

Born in Santa Monica, California on November 15, 1985, too, Playboy Playmate Laura Lyons and Alan Aldridge – Lily Maud Aldridge is one of a former Victoria’s Secret Angel (from 2010 up till 2018). Aldridge is also recognized for her appearance on the 50th anniversary cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue along with Nina Agdal and Chrissy Teigen. Aldridge’s education is from London, where she attended high school and from California as well. She started her modeling career when she was only 16 years old and since then has appeared for many renowned brands including Levi’s, JCrew, Accessorize, and Tommy Hilfiger.

Aldridge received noticeable acclaim when XOXO, a clothing company chose her as their face – many other big companies followed suit, including Shopbop in 2014. Moreover, Vogue also picked Aldridge as the fact for their August 2003 cover, and since then she has worked for various other magazine covers such as Elle, Marie Claire, and Harper’s Bazaar. Additionally, Aldridge appeared as a cover model for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue’s 50th anniversary beside Nina Agdal and Chrissy Teigen. Aldridge walked her first runway in 2009 for Victoria’s Secret, which eventually led her in becoming an Angel in 2010. She has also promoted many of the brand’s high-end products such as the “Fantasy Bra”. Furthermore, Velvet Tees also made Aldridge their face in 2004, which ended up in Aldridge partnering with the brand in 2013 to issue her line of clothing which went by the name ‘Lily Aldridge for Velvet’.

Aldridge is no stranger to the music industry as well. She has made cameos in many music videos alongside renowned names such as Dr. Dre, Taylor Swift, Eminem, Kings of Leon (which was a result of her dating the lead guitarist, Caleb Followill), and Snoop Dog.

Born on January 14, 1982, in Tennessee, the USA to Ivan Leon Followill and Betty Ann, Anthony Caleb Followill is the lead guitarist of the Kings of Leon band. Followill was raised as a devout Christian which is of little surprise since his father is a pastor. Ivon Leon Followill used to preach in Oklahoma and the Deep South. Followill tied the knot with Victoria’s Secret Angel Lily Aldridge on May 12, 2011. They welcomed their first child, Dixie, in 2012.

Caleb is a professional guitarist, a leading member of Kings of Leon, an Alternative Rock band. Kings of Leon are known for its many hits, including “Pyro”, “On-Call” and “Wasted Time”. Moreover, Followill is praised for his sense of fashion. He is known to wear clothes that seem to be a hybrid of rebellion, stylishness, and sophistication. Additionally, his talent not only stays till the music industry but drifts into the cooking industry as well. Followill is friends with Tim Love, a chef who helped him perfect many recipes – Followill now considers himself one of the best chefs in Nashville, especially when it comes to making burgers.

Caleb has often been placed under the public eye due to allegations of alcoholism, although he openly denies such rumors. The guitarist explicitly stated that he’s never been to rehab although he did stress over the fact that he does have alcohol-related issues. Speaking to the Telegraph, he said, “Once I start to drink you don’t want to be around me because there’s a level of brutal honesty, if not just pure meanness.”. He further went on to say, “In a way, I lash out at everyone else ’cause that’s when I start to point fingers at myself. I don’t know what I’m tormented by but it’s something. Maybe I’m just a drunk”.

Alluding to Lily Aldridge’s cameos in music videos, the music industry is where she found not only an opportunity to star alongside famous artists but also where she eventually found the love of her life.

Lily attended this renowned music festival in 2007 where Kings of Leon was performing that year. Aldridge’s recollection of her first encounter paints a picture of love at first sight. While talking to Tatler in 2013, she said, “He was performing and as soon as I saw him, I couldn't stop thinking about him”. After being introduced to Followill by a mutual friend, she goes on to tell what happened next, “I knew he liked me, so I played it cool. I never exchanged numbers as I just knew we were going to see each other again –  we're so compatible – he's the coolest guy I've ever met, and my best friend”.

‘Use Somebody’ served as the second single for the Kings of Leon album ‘Only by the Night’. Lily appeared in the music video for the song. Many people speculate that the lyrics of this song point towards Lily and her constant love and support for Caleb.

Followill got down on his knees in 2010 and asked Aldridge for her hand in marriage after dating her for over four years. The engagement was first made public knowledge by website people.com through Followill’s rep.

Followill and Aldridge finally tied the knot in May 2011 when they married in Montecito, Calif in a small private ceremony. Aldridge was seen dazzling in a strapless Vera Wang gown, along with a capacious veil, while Followill showcased his handsome physique in a light grey Gucci suit.

The couple welcomed their first child, Dixie Pearl Followill on June 21, 2012. Dixie was born in Nashville. The couple welcomed their second child, son Winston Roy Followill in 2019.

As of July 2020, it is reported that Caleb and Lily distribute their time between living at Followill’s place in Nashville – which is an extravagant estate stretching over 100 acres in addition to residing in New York at Aldridge’s place. While the spouses still have active careers, they tend to give their private life immense importance, especially after Dixie’s birth in 2012. While off-duty, the couple, along with their family lives mostly at Followill’s refurbished Tudor estate. When it comes to Lily’s career as a model, she retired from Victoria’s Secret in September 2018 and instead went on to work on her line of fragrance in 2019 by the name of ‘Lily Aldridge Perfumes’. One of her best-selling perfume is ‘Haven’. On the other hand, Caleb continues playing guitar for the Kings of Leon. The band’s most recent album, ‘Walls’ was released in 2016 – an Alternative rock masterpiece, the album title serves as an acronym for ‘We Are Like Love Songs’ which carries on the band’s tradition of naming their albums with five-syllable album titles.

The story of Caleb Followill and Lily Aldridge is enough to restore anyone’s faith in love once again. A husband who can sing and cook? A wife who can model and take care of kids? Both partners are actively busting stereotypes, whether knowingly or unknowingly. What we can say, however, is that they proved that people in the entertainment industry have what it takes to do their jobs pretty darn well and have active roles in their personal lives as committed partners who love continue to love each other with the same intensity as it was nine years ago and are loving parents to two children – working parents who are exemplary figures to all other working parents, whether they be famous or not.
