Movies are one of the sources from which we learn how to cope up with our feelings – the concept of boy meets girl, kissing under the mistletoe, riding in a bus together, or in extreme cases, running away with the love of your life are all scenarios we got familiar with through movies. Movies such as ‘The Notebook’, ‘The Fault In Our Stars’, ‘Titanic’ and ‘A Walk to Remember’ have become household names for us today. However, its worth knowing that not every girl falls in love with the kind of guys that movies portray.

You don’t have to be a guy who’s extroverted, a ‘bad boy’, or history of a million of girlfriends for girls to give you their attention. I’m sure you must be aware of the fact that everyone has a unique liking for a unique personality. Thus, it shouldn’t appear surprising that some girls are repelled by guys who are a bit too loud – according to them, somebody who is shy is much more intimate and has a stronger personality. So don’t worry – you won’t end up alone if you’re shy *wink wink*. Here are 10 reasons why some girls prefer falling in love with a shy guy instead of a loud guy.

10 Reasons Why Girls Prefer Shy Guys Over Loud Guys

1. Shy guys are better listeners than loud guys

While it’s no secret that shy guys prefer not talking much in social settings, due to a combination of reasons ranging from social anxiety, low self-esteem, or perhaps even a desire to observe others instead. Whatsoever the case may be, you just have to admit that the last pointer may be a ‘unique selling point’ for shy guys. Not many guys possess the capability to understand and observe others – however, shy guys stand apart because of this unique characteristic. If you’re in some kind of a social scene, you’d notice that a guy who’s known to be shy would rather listen to others and their stories rather than talk about himself. Of course, it’s nice if one adds in on the conversation, but the ability to listen, is a gift not many possess these days. Everyone wants to get their story out without being inspired by others and their experiences. A shy guy will thus, always be there for his girl – to listen to her go on about her life, her dreams, and her inspirations.

2. Once you earn their trust, shy guys are exceptionally good at holding conversations

Like mentioned before, it’s even better if one adds in on the conversation by talking about their life and its stories – and that can happen if you earn the trust of the guy you adore. Once he knows that you’re the one for him, he’d eventually open up and be more comfortable talking to you. Oftentimes, it has been revealed that good listeners are also good communicators – all you have to do is make sure that he knows he can trust you just like you trust him.

3. Shy guys won’t pressurize you to become the center of attention

If you’re a girl who prefers keeping her love life (or any other part of her life) in the down low, you’re in safe hands – at least while you’re dating a shy guy. Shy guys don’t pressurize their girlfriends to be extroverted. Why would they when they prefer being in the background in social scenes. Besides, girls often find guys who are a bit too ‘welcoming’ concerning other people to be a turn-off. I mean think about it yourself – would you prefer a guy who lets everything out in his first meet up with someone or would you prefer a guy who leaves some room for mystery? Likewise, sometimes its better to earn the spotlight rather than to force it upon yourself.

4. Shy guys are serious thinkers

As mentioned before, shy guys prefer observing and understanding others. All of these traits are associated with great thinkers. It may not be surprising to find out that the guy you’ve been falling for secretly writes poetry or songs, or perhaps paints. The process of observation, thinking, writing, and art is interrelated. Nevertheless, if you’re a guy who thinks and then illustrates his thoughts (in any creative way possible) – don’t stop! Your creativity and ability to be affected by people and their actions isn’t a weakness – it’s a strength – it shows that you have a high level of emotional intelligence, you’re creative and that you have some sort of understanding about how the world and its people work. Many girls dig that!

5. You’re in for a basket full of surprises once you start dating a shy guy

Since shy guys initially prefer keeping their personal lives under the covers, you’d be surprised to know more about the man of your dreams once you earn his trust. Like I mentioned before, shy guys often indulge in many creative arts, including painting, drawing, songwriting, singing, writing (be that poetry or any other form of writing) – you’d be in for surprise after surprise once he starts opening up!

6. They have unique hobbies they like to indulge in their free time

This alludes to the previous pointer. However, it is to note that many ‘loud’, extroverted guys don’t indulge in hobbies that have such a strong grip on one’s entire character as the hobbies a shy guy may indulge in. They may be painting in their past time, or writing a poem, or maybe even collecting vinyl records! Who knows? The possibilities are endless – but what’s clear is that all these hobbies show what kind of a guy he is. Of course, for the (mainly) extroverted guys who play sports or are into, say, debates – that’s good too but it doesn’t connect directly with your heart the way creative arts do.

7. You can always be yourself around them since they are less intimating

Just like many guys find many girls to be intimidating and thus look for ways to ‘carve’ their personalities around them – many girls feel the same way while around guys. However, as I mentioned before – many girls don’t find overly-confident guys to be attractive since it leaves no room for curiosity and mystery in their relationship. Thus, a guy who doesn’t radiate excessive confidence is a far better catch for some girls since it’s akin to catching two birds with one stone:

a. you get to date an interesting guy who gives you ample space to shine and

b. you can always be yourself around him no matter what.

8. Shy guys have far more genuine than loud guys

Since shy guys are superior listeners, deep-rooted thinkers, and are less intimidating, their instinctively more genuine than their loud counterparts. Since shy guys have fewer issues in conveying how they feel (I mean they’ve been doing that all along, only in secret) – they won’t hesitate to tell you if something’s off-putting, neither would they lie to you just so that you’re ‘happy’. Shy guys observe and think and let things out as they are – they don’t sugarcoat. Of course, they’re not mean or anything – they just want to be transparent with their thoughts and convey their thoughts as they are – appreciating their honesty is the least you could do in return.

9. Their advice is always great

Since shy guys are far more genuine and honest with their partners, their advice is far more superior than loud, extroverted guys. It can be said that shy guys possess more critical thinking skills – they’ve been observing the world and its inhabitants for a long time and thus know the ins and outs of the ways of this world – always keep an ear open for their advice for its one of the most honest, helpful advice you’ll ever receive.

10. Don’t hesitate to introduce him to your family – shy guys are polite to everyone

Once you want to take things to the next level and intend to introduce your man to your family – do not hesitate! Their keen desire to listen and observe, their critical thinking skills, their creative talents, and their genuineness are all qualities associated with an extremely polite and respectable person – and by the end of the day, all girls desire their guy to be that way – not just towards her family, but towards everyone.

Summary

In conclusion, it can be said that the stigma attached with shy guys i.e. they’re ‘nerds’, ‘dorks’, or simply ‘dumb’ is nothing but simply wrong assumptions. Shy guys are far more emotionally aware of their surroundings, are far better thinkers (and later, communicators), and are far more genuine and honest – making them better life partners in general. So don’t hesitate in approaching that dude who’s sitting in one of the tables at corner of the hall on a social event– he may just be the man of your dreams!
