Mark Stoermer The Man

Mark Stoermer was born on June 28th, 1977 in Houston Texas to a father and mother who ended up moving to Las Vegas, Nevada when Mark was 3 years old, ultimately setting up destiny for him to meet up with the musicians that would form as The Killers in the early 2000's and end up taking the world by storm. Mark Stoermer is one of the greatest bassists and songwriters of the last decade and a half. While playing guitar in a band named The Negative Ponies, Stoermer met Brandon Flowers and Dave Keuning, who were performing around Las Vegas as a new band under the name of The Killers. As a fan of the band's brilliant and unique sound, Stoermer was often present at the band's early gigs. They asked him to join the band as a guitar player, because at first, they wanted to build a five-piece band, like The Strokes with a keyboard. It was in September 2002 that Stoermer was offered the amazing opportunity to become the band's permanent bass player, which he accepted and completed the band's lineup along with Ronnie Vannucci Jr. on drums, creating a stunning rhythm section. The U.K, like many bands including The Strokes and Kings Of Leon, accepted The Killers before America did, but when their debut Album, "Hot Fuss" came out, it didn't take long for America to catch on, with single like "Mr. Brightside," "Somebody Told Me," "Smile Like You Mean It" & "All These Things That I Have Done," which they have performed with the likes of Bono from U2 and Chris Martin from Coldplay, amongst others. The Killers are an amazing band and throughout the years have enjoyed massive success with their first four albums all reaching No. 1 on the U.K Albums Chart and garnering the band seven GRAMMY Award nominations in the United States and seven BRIT Award nominations across the pond.

Mark Stoermer The Mystery

Whether it is his work with The Killers, his solo project entitled Filthy Apes & Lions, his work as a Producer, the dark arts or his extremely unique past, Mark Stoermer is something of an enigma. The musician and songwriter has been nicknamed "The Gentle Giant" by his bandmates because he is very quiet, kind and stands at 6 feet 5 inches tall. Stoermer has played with bands such as the "Smashing Pumpkins" and done production work with bands such as "Howling Bells." His solo work includes albums such as "Another Life," Dark Arts" & "Filthy Apes & Lions," which tread into a psychedelic realm full of extremely unique instruments, fascinating allusions, and very poetic lyrics. Mark Stoermer is one of the greatest bassists and songwriters at work today and it is no wonder that the musician and songwriter has done so well for himself. He has taken a break from playing live shows with The Killers recently to focus on his solo work, as the son of a German Australian Father, it is no surprise that after over 1,000 shows, he feels that it is time to evolve more and focus on things such as possibly becoming married and focusing on his private life as well, with a possible wife in the future.

Mark Stoermer, The Future, Net Worth & Fast Facts

Mark Stoermer is a unique individual, and with all of the work that he has put in as The Killers bassist, along with his solo albums, collaborations and production work, it would not come as a shock that Mark is not married and does not have a wife, yet. Stoermer's last relationship, with his girlfriend Beth, ended in 2011. Mark has a Net Worth of $800,000 according to a few sites, but considering the latest Killers Album and what will probably turn into more Grammy Awards for the band and Mark, I think that it is safe to say that he will add to that net worth over the next few months. Mark has some extremely memorable bass lines on some of The Killers biggest hits and his work on songs like the opening track to Hot Fuss, "Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine" and "Tranquilize," which they recorded with the great Lou Reed before he passed are riffs that will go down in history. The Killers latest Album, "Wonderful Wonderful" has a Doors or Jane's Addiction type bass riff that opens the album with the title track to the Album. "The Man," which is something of an unexpected departure for The Killers is recorded and produced so well, that the thought of them being nominated for multiple Grammy Awards this year for the track and album is not far from expectations. When asked by Dork or ReadDork.com, "What does the future hold for you?" Mark replied, "No one really knows. I try my best to think about today, tomorrow, and nothing further. I’ve learned this from someone else who learned it from a wise man."
