5 Tell-tale Signs You're Dating a High Maintenance Girl

What Is A High Maintenance Person?

High maintenance people often get looked down upon and are usually avoided at all costs. If you're sick of being called names and want a breath of fresh air, keep reading ahead. While we often hear the word “high maintenance” in negative contexts and the word has a connotation that says "danger alert," it's built on nothing but fear.

We, as a society, tend to label things we don’t agree with or are afraid of. We assign labels and put people in boxes, so making fun of them, and hating them can become easier.

We see high maintenance people be portrayed as unsympathetic jerks, selfish lovers, and self-obsessed people in movies. They're always mean and have no regard for others. However, that isn't the case. As individuals, we are so used to letting people get away with things that when we see someone take a stand for themselves, it seems like they're acting crazy.

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been given a wrong order at a restaurant and haven’t said anything about it because I thought the waiter would get in trouble. While being considerate might seem sweet, it was sad that I couldn’t stand up for me. So, now when I send an order back because it's wrong, I don’t mind being called high maintenance because I think everyone should be.

What Do High-Maintenance Girls Do?

• They ask for the best

Most of us out there are so accustomed to people not putting any effort in their jobs, relationships, or life that when they do the bare minimum, we think maybe that's how things are supposed to be. However, that shouldn't be the case; we should know our worth and make sure that those around us are aware of it too. That is what high maintenance women do. They know where they stand and make sure they are given what they are due.

They don't let people wing things and demand that they are given their due respect, love, affection, and attention. They settle for nothing less than the best.

• They don't put up with nonsense

Another thing high maintenance women do is see-through people's nonsense. While low maintenance people often let things slide and don’t confront people, high maintenance women call people out.

Whether it's a lie to get out of work or a stupid excuse to hang out with the boys, high maintenance women know when someone's lying, and they aren't afraid to have honest meaningful conversations.

What Do High Maintenance Girlfriends Need? – 5 Signs You’re Dating a High Maintenance Girl

To be honest, they need what any other girlfriend might need; they just won't let you get away without doing it.

1. Loyalty

The first thing that they need is loyalty. They will give you 100% and will demand the same. While this is a basic ethical issue, you'd be surprised at how many women get cheated on every day.so if you're not in it for a genuine try, don’t initiate something with someone who is known to be high maintenance.

2. Truth

Whether it's about your past relationships or where you were late at night, high maintenance women will settle for nothing less than the truth. They are strong-willed and confident in their skin, so they don't care where you were as long as they know the truth. However, if you try to lie through a tough situation, you're sure to be caught. Once you do get caught, things aren't going to be pretty.

3. Attention

While many people hold this against them, I see why it's a bad thing. Everyone wants attention; we all want our partners to give us time and listen to what we have to say; we just let it slide if we don't get it because somewhere deep down, we think that maybe we deserve it. High maintenance women are in touch with themselves and sync with their inner "Bawse" and, therefore, demand what they are owed.

4. Personal space

High maintenance girls have a definite sense of boundaries and don’t want their space to be violated. They will not shy away from telling you that you need to step your game up or to give them some space. They need to have time to themselves to maintain a healthy relationship with themselves and others around them.

So, if you’re thinking of asking her for her password to Facebook or Instagram, that isn’t a good idea. If you want to keep her happy, you need to respect her privacy because she will do the same for you. This means not telling her what to wear, what to eat, or who to meet; you should come to terms with the fact that she is her own woman and doesn’t need a price in shining armor to come to her rescue.

5. They strive for perfection

Not only do they demand that they get the best, but they also make sure that they give their best at everything too. They aren't afraid to ask for help and don’t care what people will think of them.

They're vocal and confident, which means they always get the job done. Once anyone puts all they've got into something, they deserve to get the best outcomes too. So, the next time someone tries to bring you down and calls you "high-maintenance," wear it like a badge.

What Is A Low Maintenance Girl?

While low maintenance may sound like an insult, it isn't. Know that popular ideas about women are often stereotypes. While the word may have connotations of being weak, that isn't the case. Low maintenance women are women who don't ask for much. They are often self-sufficient and don't make demands. They are content in their lives and strive for happiness.

Know that not everyone can be assertive, and that's okay. There are different types of people in the world, and that doesn't mean one is better than the other. Low maintenance girls want all the same things that high maintenance girls want; the difference is that they might let it slide once a while if you don't bring your A-game.

Low maintenance girl means easy-going, that she can rock PJs and eat a bag of chips before bed. While high maintenance girls tend to follow routines, low maintenance girls take each day as it comes. Unfortunately, girls like these do get treated worse than others. They are taken for granted because the world is just too cruel and they mistake their generosity for weakness. When both of these types are compared, a low-maintenance girl is more likely to let go of abuse in a relationship as compared to a high-maintenance girl. When she does realize that someone is way out of their line, they will step up for themselves. The only difference is that they’ll take longer to step up than their counterpart.

Is It Bad To Date A Girl Who Is High Maintenance?

The answer is no! It’s not bad at all and anyone who tells you otherwise is just too insecure. Whether or not you’re ready to date a high maintenance woman depends on you. Are you ready to give someone all that you have or are you dealing with issues of your own and want to take it easy? Just know that high maintenance isn't a bad thing, we all wish we stood up for ourselves more often so why think bad of those who do? I believe high maintenance people should be looked up to and we should try and learn from them, not be afraid and hide. If you're into someone who is high maintenance, give it a go. They'll keep it real with you and you'll have a good time.
