Top 20 Signs He Likes You More Than A Friend

These signs confirm you're more than a friend!

We always have that one guy friend who is just more noticeable than the others, and sometimes you can't help but secretly think if he's showing signs of liking you more than a friend. Nothing is more exciting than finding out someone likes you. But it can also be devastating to find out in the end that you're just assuming, right? You probably went through confusion as to why he keeps being enthusiastic in everything you do no matter how silly it may seem, or smiles at you whenever he gets a chance or keeps the conversation going, even though sometimes you feel it's going nowhere! You may seem to find it even weird when he laughs at your corny jokes and deals with your mood swings. But whatever reasons he has for doing it, as a woman, you would still want to find out anyway! So keep reading these 20 signs to check if a guy likes you more than a friend.

"Laura and I met in preschool. One of my very first memories is of being 3 years old and standing up in front of my pre-school class, declaring that I would marry her someday. As kids, Laura taught me how to ride the swings, draw rolling hills, and the 'right way' to properly eat string cheese. We have fond memories of playing hide-and-go-seek, chasing after each other on the playground, and mischievously staying up during nap time. I was enamored with Laura as a child, and I still am to this day. Eventually, we lost touch upon entering our Elementary School days and for the next seven years, our family's annual Christmas cards was the only way we ever saw each other's faces. It wasn't until High School that we reconnected by happenstance through a mutual friend. Within two weeks, we decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend. We continued to date through out all of High School, even though we went to different schools. We even stuck together long-distance while attending colleges in different states. We remained a resilient couple until May 23rd, 2015 when I decided to stay true to my preschool pledge and make Laura my wife. I proposed to her at the place it all began... our preschool classroom."

1. If he is your no. 1 fan, he surely likes you more than a friend

Women have the tendency to post their everyday routines on whatever social media platforms they use. Sometimes, it attracts attention from your social media friends and you gain "reactions" from it. Sometimes, it just doesn't. But whatever posts you have, be they interesting or not, there is one friend who is present to give you that "like" and yes, you guessed it, it's him. He is just really there to give you that thumbs-up even when your post is just for your tagged friends. You immediately get that "heart react" notification on your newly posted selfies, or even unintelligible statuses. Long story short, he'll probably like whatever you post to say subtly that he is your no. 1 fan. This could be one of the signs that he secretly likes you and wants you to notice him.

2. If he sends you direct messages, it's one of the signs he likes you

Receiving direct messages from friends is just really normal, but have you ever experienced receiving one from him just because? If he sends you direct messages just to say "hi" even when he hasn't got anything important to say, it means he likes talking to you, or he just simply likes you more than a friend. There are even times he'll just randomly open up something to talk about for the sake of having an excuse to chat with you. Often times, if he really likes you, he will keep the conversation going even when you're not answering him back anymore.

3. He has stalked you at least once

You may be surprised to find out that he knows a lot about you! He tells you about a past event when he sees you and makes a remark such as "I didn't know you were very tall," or "You stand out among your friends." This means he had his eyes on you even before you knew each other. His head is so cloudy with infatuation that he forgets it could be mistaken as stalking! You'll know he has stalked you when he can still remember details on your profile photos from months ago or reminds you of a status you posted that you yourself can't even remember anymore. When a guy knows a lot of things about you - sometimes even more than you do - he definitely likes you more than a friend!

4. He will try to get into your likes and interests

If he asks you what your interests and hobbies are, there is a high chance that he likes you more than a friend. Sometimes, he will even take the effort to get into them to show you he's willing to do whatever you want to do. This could be him asking you what movies you prefer to watch instead of suggesting ones that he would rather watch, or asking you what foods you love before deciding where to eat. Sometimes, no matter how girly your interests are, he will still show you he appreciates it anyway.

5. He likes you more than a friend when he gives you presents

Men are not into giving presents to their friends, even male ones, unless they really like someone. They will not spend even a penny for people they're not interested in. So, if he occasionally gives you little things, it is surely one of the signs he likes you more than a friend. You're even more in luck if these presents are handmade or it's something that he took a huge effort to create.

6. He is showing signs of jealousy

If he's showing interest in who you are going out with, even just with friends, it could be a sure sign of jealousy. This could be him asking about male friends you hang out with and places you're going to. You should also notice how he reacts to you going out with people. The more he sounds upset about it or the more he reacts on it negatively with his body language, the more chances of assurance that he likes you. There are even times where he will make plans to go out with you on the day you have plans with other friends.

7. He shows interest in your past love life

If he constantly asks you about your past relationships, it's a sure sign of him liking you more than a friend. Now remember, this could be him asking because he's curious and trying to get ideas of what type of men you want to date or maybe he's just using this to make a move so he can talk about love life with you. Usually, this ends up with him asking, "Do you have a boyfriend now?" If it ends that way, well, you already know it. It's one of the sure signs he likes you more than a friend; otherwise, he wouldn't be interested.

8. He is interested in knowing your family

Of course, we treat our friends as family and bring them home sometimes, but if a guy asks or talks about your family more often than usual, and enthusiastically for that matter, it's a sure sign that he secretly desires to be part of it. This could be him asking about your siblings' interest and hobbies. One example would be if he has shown a sudden interest in your brother's music taste and is constantly telling you how good it is. He will sometimes even hint that he would love to jam with him. Another noticeable sign is when he really tries hard to be close to your parents when you bring him home. He doesn't act like a guest. Oftentimes, he would even help with the household chores. This is one of the strongest signs that he likes you more than a friend.

9. To touch you is one of the signs he likes you

To hint that we like someone, body language is one of the strongest and most effective ways to show it. If we don't like someone, we want to be far away from that person as much as possible, but if a guy is always making an excuse touch you, it means he likes you more than a friend. He doesn't shy away from physical contact. But these aren't exactly the intimate caressing you're thinking about. These are just the friendly and playful ones. This body language includes playfully tousling your hair, patting your head as if you're a pet, putting his hands on your shoulders while teasing you, and tickling you whenever he finds an excuse to do it. If he gets more courageous, he will even try to hug you or hold your hand. He gets awfully quiet and tense as well whenever you try to put your head on his shoulder.

10. You are more than a friend if he almost prioritizes you

We all have to admit that not all of our close friends always have the time when we need them. They still have their own lives after all. You can tell that a guy secretly likes you when he's literally there whenever you need him. Yes, no matter what the time is. If you need him to call you when you're feeling down, he immediately will in just a few seconds after you asked him to. He will reply to your messages even when he's apparently busy. Even during late hours, he will be willing to come to you. I don't know about you, but I think that's something someone more than just a friend would do. There will be times when he hasn't really got the time to spare, but rest assured that he will apologize endlessly and promise to make up for it.

11. He steals a glance at you every now and then

It's all in the body language, I say! Another one of these examples of body language to confirm that a guy secretly likes you more than a friend is when he tries to look at you while you're not noticing. You probably caught him several times stealing a glance at you and looking away in a different direction when you try to meet his eyes. This definitely means he adores you and you are beautiful in his eyes. It's men's common body language to stare at something they love and ignore something they are not interested in. You are someone he likes if he looks at you. You are surely more than a friend to him.

12. He asks you your plans for future

Sure, there was once a time when we shared our plans for the future to our friends, but we haven't actually told them in elaborate detail, have we? When a guy is seriously interested about your plans for the future, especially about married life and wants to know every detail of it, it could be a major hint of his desire to be part of it; he wants to be involved. These could include questions like, "How old do you want to get married?" "How many children do you want to have?" "What kind of wedding do you prefer?" The list goes on.

13. He is showing signs of willingness to give up his bad habits

Almost all men have their own bad habits, whether it be smoking, drinking alcohol, late night partying, etc. And most of the time, these are the habits that are not easy to get rid of. Guys won't easily give up on something they love doing just because someone tells them to. But, if a guy secretly likes you more than a friend, you'll be surprised that he is instantly willing on the first time you ask, sometimes even when you don't ask him at all. Men will always present themselves as clean as much as possible to the the person they like, and to be able to do this, they must give up on their bad habits.

14. He never fails to remember your birthday

Sometimes, even close friends still have the tendency to forget your birthday. People who treat you as someone important in their lives will never fail to remember it. If a guy never fails to greet you every year on your birthday, it could be a hint. But remembering is not the only sign; there are others that go along with it. Several friends greet you every year as well, but that doesn't mean these friends automatically like you more than a friend. Notice how he enthusiastically greets you. Does he try hard to be always the first one to do it? Does 12:00 midnight just strike and you already receive a notification from him greeting you a happy birthday? Or, perhaps he is sweeter with words he uses? I mean, hey, we probably all know the difference between an acquaintance's birthday greeting and a greeting from someone who likes you.

15. He takes every opportunity to have you alone

What is something more obvious than everything else to tell if a guy likes you more than a friend? A man will never go out with you alone if he is not interested in you. Rather, he would actually avoid it as much as possible so as not to make an issue among his friends. So, if a guy initiates an invitation to go out with you alone, it is a sure sign that you are more than a friend to him. You should also notice his body language. If he fidgets a lot while asking you out, or maybe sweats a little, it could mean nervousness. A guy would never feel nervous about asking a person out they don't like more than a friend.

16. He likes you more than a friend when he makes eye contact

When we are checking out a person, one of the common types of body language we look for is through their eyes. When you don't feel comfortable talking to someone, you got to admit that you look in different directions to avoid eye contact. Not making eye contact is also a sign of disinterest towards someone. So, if you're talking to him and you notice that he makes eye contact with you, this means he is comfortable around you and that he's interested in whatever you're saying. He focuses on listening to you because you are important to him. He likes you more than a friend if you notice this type of body language.

"Ben and I first met when we were 4 years old and on the same T-ball team. In third grade, Ben switched to my school and we were in the same class all the way until 8th grade graduation. He was even my boyfriend for a short period of time in fourth grade until he dumped me for Rachael. I'll never let him forget that. We went on to attend the same High School and always circulated amongst the same group of friends. After High School graduation, we went our separate ways. Over the years, I heard that Ben got married and had a couple of kids. I was still single. Then came the time for our 20 year reunion and I did not want to go. What was the point? Most people never left our town and for those who did, we could keep up with their lives on Facebook. Well, my best friend desperately wanted to go to the reunion and her husband didn't. She reminded me of Senior year when I made her go to the prom with me and my boyfriend at the time. I owed her so I had no choice but to go with her. We made a deal we would only stay for an hour. We were just about to leave when Ben walked in...alone. I turned to my best friend and said, "Holy crap! When did Ben grow up to be so hot?" We couldn't figure out why he was alone since his wife was in our graduating class. We also noticed he didn't have a ring on. Quite fittingly of High School-like behavior, we scurried into a corner and pulled up his Facebook page on our phones. Turns out, Ben had gotten divorced. Score! I immediately made a deal with my best friend that I would buy all of her drinks for the rest of the night if she would stay with me so I could talk to Ben. She obliged. We stayed. Ben and I talked. And a month later we started dating. That was in 2010. Now we are married and have a 3 year old son." * This is exactly why everyone should go to their High School reunions. You never know who you'll reconnect with.

17. He introduces you to his friends

If a guy introduces you to his friends, especially the males, it means he's proud you're a part of his life. He's doesn't want to hide you from anyone; rather he's actually showing you off. Also, listen to how he introduces you. A guy who likes you more than a friend will never refer to you as a friend. He would never say, "This is my friend..." rather, he would directly tell them your name, e.g. "This is..."

18. He opens up about his dreams for the future

Yes, as I've said, if he is curious about your plans for the future, it is one of the signs he likes you. But even more so if he is the one who opens up or shares his own goals and dreams. Men will not always talk about their dreams for the future to just anyone. They don't all have that "chit-chat" personality like women do. To them, it may probably sound boring and corny. But when he does, it's because you're important to him, and yes, he could also be hinting that he wants to reach this goals and dreams with you.

19. He likes you more than a friend if he's a gentleman around you

Males are usually casual around their friends, even female ones. Being funny, dorky and crazy at times are men's common personality. But if he respects you a lot by doing things such as not letting you out before he opens the door of his car for you, helping you carry your bags, paying the bill most of the time when you're on a date with him, making sure you arrived safely at home, or simply just talking to you with so much respect, it's a sure sign that he likes you more than a friend. He wants to show you that he can take care of you and that gentlemen still exist!

20. Strongest of all signs, your gut feeling

Sometimes, you have to trust your own instincts. If your woman's intuition can sense that a guy is interested in you, or if he likes you more than a friend, chances are you are absolutely right. You know, women just don't sense things without seeing any sign. There has to be reason for this. So, if you have that gut feeling that he likes you more than a friend before even reading these signs, you are probably correct.
